Tamara Willems

right as rain…

This morning I coach the washing machine
through the spin cycle,
I know it’s jeans, I say in a comforting tone,
and they tend to make you feel
a little
off centre,
but just do
the best you can
to which it kindly acquiesces

I return to my French toast
bananas and blueberries piled haphazardly
on top
pooled deliciously in warm
syrup

while
outside
it’s still raining

I gaze up at a little fluff of sparrow
in the softest beige
perched on a small branch
head tucked under
quite peacefully sleeping
unbothered
by
raindrops

wander leisurely into the words
of a beautiful writer I appreciate
and send off a few words
of my own in gratitude
for language

a few minutes later, surprisingly
my husband comes through the door
home early form his day
of work
the rain having cancelled out
most
golfing plans

and I notice even under this wet sky
the apple blossoms
have begun
to open
and the little wren is singing
merrily

then
from here
I marvel at how very easily an ordinary
day
can turn itself
into
love ♥

May you be happy and healthy
May you be safe and at ease
May you be well, my friends
May You
be well
