It has all the makings of a perfect day
\nit starts of course with a day off, so that means not getting up at 5:30 am, but rather a bit of a lie in and to
\nrising slow
\nmorning coffee with my love
\nand the finishing of a good book (sound familiar)
\nhe says he\u2019ll be home by noon, then we have errands to do
\nat 12:02, he pulls into the drive
\nperfectly timed, not quite a noble steed
\nbut to me
\ndashing just the same
\nfirst off is some much needed shopping for me
\nand while I just do not possess the gene
\nthat enjoys shopping for clothes
\nhe\u2019s insisting
\nto me half the battle is justifying the ridiculous prices
\nof things
\nand then, ugh the trying things on\u2026
\nwhile I am doing my best to make a few choices
\nmy husband comes over to tell me he\u2019s discovered they sell individual slices
\nof cheesecake here
\nand right there, I am reminded why
\nhe\u2019s the one
\nas neither one of us has eaten, we share this glorious bit of breakfast
\nin the car
\nand giggle like children
\noff next to some thrift store shopping
\nmuch more my comfort zone
\nonce in the change room
\nI find to my delight it\u2019s been so long since I have bought new jeans
\nthat I have no idea what size I wear
\nand everything I have chosen is far too big
\nthis makes standing far too close
\nhalf naked in front of a mirror
\nmuch more kind
\nI do manage to find a few things and some fabulous new boots
\nbut my treasure of the day is a lovely
\nvintage feel
\ncase for my reading glasses
\nyes, I can be satisfied for $1.25
\nthen on to the grocery store, which we find quite
\npleasurable as we usually do it together
\non the way home a quick stop in at the library
\nwhere three new books are waiting for me
\nthen a mere five and half hours since we left
\nwe are home
\nwith all the kids still here
\nthis is always my favourite place
\nto be
\nwe each filter in to do
\na bit of work on the second of our holiday jigsaw puzzles
\nwhile my husband makes dinner
\nthen we all sit down for
\nfamily movie night
\ntogether
\nwhen finally I do crawl into the comfort of my bed
\nand wrap myself in its warmth
\ngreat gratitude gathers around me
\nfor this day
\nthis life
\nthis
\nlove
\nand for simple pleasures
\nproving once again
\nthe key to this woman\u2019s heart
\nis not diamonds
