\nI say to my husband, closing my eyes
\nand sinking into his chest, I can feel it in my ears
\nI know he says \u2026<\/p>\n
this means of course that I have been
\nsinking a little,
\nas happens with me from time to time
\nmaybe I have been short, slightly irritable
\n(preposterous, \u00a0I know!)
\nor just simply drawn by the recent lack of
\nsunshine<\/p>\n
also I suppose, I am tired and worn
\nwith the weight of the world
\nbewildered by unkindness and untruths
\nand hard pressed to keep my light
\nin a tightly woven web of
\nfear<\/p>\n
and so I retreat to a
\nquietness, within
\nand I
\nbreathe deeply
\nin
\nthen
\nout<\/p>\n
What is it you aspire to?
\nWhat is it You wish to be?
\nI\u2019ve always said I aspire to be a recluse
\nsometimes heard
\nbut rarely
\nseen
\nthis was my ideal, rarely bothered
\nquietly content
\nbut really what I genuinely aspire to be
\nis Peace<\/p>\n
not to be \u2018left in peace\u2019
\nnot be \u2018at peace\u2019
\nbut just to
\nbe<\/p>\n
peace<\/p>\n
and in this peace there is of course
\nLove
\nas this is what holds me
\nand guides me
\nand anchors me<\/p>\n
so this becomes my practice
\nwhen the great noise of the world
\noutside starts to swell
\nand I feel the need to get away
\nfrom everything
\nas well as
\nmyself<\/p>\n

\nI recognize
\nquietly then, \u00a0I
\nsurrender
\nI close my eyes
\nreturn
\nto my breath, with ease
\nand always to gratitude<\/p>\n
