Last night, tired and worn from a busy day at work
\nwearily making my way through the dishes
\nI am stricken with a horrendous case
\nof the hiccups
\nbothersome and burgeoning on slightly painful, I am providing comic relief to the rest of the house as yawning,
\nwhile hiccupping creates the most raucous squawks and croaks
\nand my voice is now rather froggy
\nhardly headline news, I know
\nmy night is made slightly less bothersome by a lovely
\nchat with my cousin
\noffering
\nkindness
\nand this I appreciate
\nas I finally surrender to my bed, with a smile
\nand a hiccup
\nsomehow, I gratefully drift off
\nto sleep<\/p>\n
This morning, my throat and chest still feel
\na little traumatized
\nthrough my window the day appears
\na bit dull and greyish
\non the outside
\nbut inside
\nI am filled
\nwith
\nmy own
\nlight<\/p>\n
and so today I think I\u2019ll do something nice,
\nIt feels like just that kind of day<\/p>\n
first I\u2019ll kiss my husband
\n(the nicest thing of all)
\nand tell him just how much I love him
\nbefore he goes
\nI’ll pour myself a coffee
\nand sit
\nquietly with my book
\nthen I may send a little note to someone
\nI am guessing might need it
\nafter that,
\nI think I\u2019ll head to the kitchen
\nand master up something wonderful
\nchocolaty, comforting and
\nwarm
\nto fill the house with delicious-ness
\nI\u2019ll put on some music
\nsing and sway as I move around the kitchen
\nwith a lightness and my own kind of
\ngrace
\nI\u2019ll touch base with a few friends
\ncatch up with some writers
\nand send out some good thoughts
\nfor those who may need to know
\nthat someone is in their
\ncorner
\n(psst.. I’m here, and I like this corner!)
\nI\u2019m going to think about
\nforgiveness
\ncourage
\nkindness
\nand peace
\nand too, \u00a0all the simple things
\nthat to me wholly
\nencompass
\nLove<\/p>\n
Outside raindrops may be pelting my window
\nbut inside
\ntoday
\nI am making
\nmy own
\nsunshine<\/p>\n
and now, that you’ve arrived Mr. Blue
