Sometimes there is
\na lot of noise in my head
\na lot of talk, a lot of review
\na lot of thinking, thinking, thinking
\nit\u2019s not as though I hear voices
\nassuredly these are all
\nmine
\nTis I suppose the nature of being
\na very feeling, overly thinking
\nempathetic introvert
\nand wow, that is suddenly a lot of labels to carry
\nisn\u2019t it
\nnames stuck to my forehead
\nto be worn
\non one\u2019s chest
\nyet I do not allow the weight of these
\nto burden me
\nquite the opposite really
\nI tend to wear these descriptors
\nas my badges of honour
\nI am very happy to be empathetic
\nas this mean I care
\nas much for your happiness
\nas my own
\nI am rather quiet by nature,
\nand often awkward in social situations
\nbut as this is me
\nit does kind of suit me
\njust fine
\nI tend to talk to myself
\na lot
\nand out loud
\nthere are times when I have to make conversation
\noutside of myself
\nI will rehearse words in my head
\njust to make sure they will come out…
\nright
\nafter I replay and revise
\n(sometimes ad nauseam)
\nWhen I write
\nI guess, I do the same
\nI read what I have written
\nto myself
\nand out loud
\nI \u00a0rewrite, I revise
\nI run words through my head
\nand let them roll
\noff my tongue, just to get the taste
\nbut will they sound the same
\nto you?
\nI suppose it\u2019s just like reading a book
\nthe words of the authour run
\nthrough my head
\nin their voice
\nand mine
\neach of us bringing to the words
\nparts
\nof ourselves
\nwhich is really kind of a nice thought, isn\u2019t it?
