Recently
\nI was introduced to a young woman,
\nby a friend,
\n\u201cShe\u2019s a writer, my friend says
\nshe writes beee-yoo-ti-full things\u201d
\n(my lovely friend, has had a bit to drink)
\n\u201cOh yeah,
\nsays the young woman
\nclearly unimpressed,
\nwhatd\u2019you write?\u201d
\nI\u2019m left stumped, a little
\non how best to answer this,
\nWhat do I write\u2026?<\/p>\n
The simple answer I guess is
\nI write about things I feel,
\nand things I think
\nand often things that seem to be
\nstep dancing their way through my head
\nand through
\nmy heart
\nand yes, simple things
\nthat might otherwise
\ngo
\nunnoticed<\/p>\n
I am inexplicably connected to the sun
\nit warms me, and fills me
\nand reminds me to
\nstop, and to
\nsmile
\nand to
\nbreathe
\nI write about this…<\/p>\n
and when the clouds come
\nas they do
\nto remember
\nthat the light
\nis still there<\/p>\n
I guess I am connected to the clouds too
\nas they do seem at times
\nto occupy a great space
\nin me
\nand I make it a practice
\nto try, to allow
\nfor this
\nspace
\nso, I write about this too<\/p>\n
often I write about my gardens,
\nthe flowers, and the wildlife within
\nwho decorate my day
\nand bless me
\nwith presence
\nmy gardens are wild and unruly
\nI have no defined edges, no decorative mulch
\nand I rarely recognize weeds
\nas such
\nI like the freedom of beauty
\nor maybe it\u2019s the beauty
\nof
\nfreedom
\nI write about my pond
\nas it lives and
\nbreathes
\nand offers me a great calmness
\nto life
\nand Gratitude
\nI write about gratitude
\nas this is something that occupies
\nevery cell and fibre
\nof my
\nbeing
\nmostly I hope, \u00a0I write about
\nLove
\nas this is
\nthe most wonderful
\nthing
\nand it is here at the
\ncentre
\nof me
\nthat all things
\nbegin
\nin Love and in
\nKindness
\nand
\nin
\nPeace
\n(i write about this a lot!)<\/p>\n
I write about simple things,
\nI guess,
\nor
\nnothings,
\nI don\u2019t know\u2026<\/p>\n
I guess, I just like to write things down
\nso then, I can read them
\nand say,
\nOh, yeah ..\u00a0 that was a day.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s the simple answer,
\nthough I can see she\u2019s not really interested
\nin this
\nso instead, I say,
\n\u201cStuff,
\nI just write about stuff\u201d<\/p>\n
“Huh,” she says,
\nand begins instead to talk
\nto someone else<\/p>\n
then I smile,
\na deep contented smile
