The dog barks, as the sky darkens
\nand a distant rumbling begins
\nthe kids scramble to check windows
\nlarge drops start pelting in increasing frequency
\nwhile I
\ngrab a rather large handful of sweet red cherries
\nas many as I can possibly grasp
\nerrant stems sticking through my fingers
\nI nimbly step my way through raindrops
\nlike a joyfully devious sprite
\nto the cabin that overlooks
\nour pond
\nreally the cabin
\nis merely a roof and three walls
\ntwo and a half even
\nI stand here eating my cherries
\ntossing stems and pits into the garden
\nsomeone else’s treasure
\nand watching the rain while it
\ndances wildly on the surface of the pond
\nthe only sounds I can hear are the rhythmic
\npattering of droplets on leaves
\nwater and rocks
\nwhile
\ndelightfully splashing my toes
\nand then the great gathering of thunderous rumbles
\nthat break across the sky
\nthe fish seem just as jubilant as I
\nas the rumbles increase
\nand the rain comes down harder
\nI take a deep inhale, and I am completely filled with Joy
\nI love a good thunderstorm
\nespecially to be outside
\nunder gargantuan sounds, flashing electrics
\nsurrounded by vibrant luscious colours
\nthe dampness of earth
\nand a few adventurous birds
\nevery sense engaged in wonder
\nand awe<\/p>\n
and then, only when I have completely bubbled over
\nwith Gratitude
\nand a lovely sense
\nof peace
\nI take myself back in
\nand
\nreturn
\nto the laundry<\/p>\n
then the sun
\ncomes
\nout \u00a0\u2665<\/p>\n
