Last night I had a dream
\nthat a thousand people showed up at my house
\nand my husband
\nwasn\u2019t
\nhome
\nand I
\nwas late for work
\nmy husband, you see would welcome the
\ncrowd
\nbut to me
\nthis is possibly my worst
\nnightmare
\nthis morning I can palpably feel
\nmy
\nanxiety
\nI am on edge
\nand
\nannoyed
\nI walk in to things
\nbang my elbow
\nand hip
\nspill
\nmy husband has been busy, working too many days
\nand nights
\nand I am
\nmissing
\nhim
\nI am not always my best company
\nsometimes harsh
\nand critical
\nsometimes, just
\ntoo
\nmuch
\nan ant crawls up my leg, while I am reading
\nand while I try to be loving and kind
\nto all
\ncreatures
\nI have not yet come to this with ants in my house
\nand he unfortunately, \u00a0receives my ire
\nthe neighbour\u2019s dog\u2019s incessant yelping
\nacross the road the daily car alarm
\nsets off
\nand I can feel the heaviness of my scowl
\nand the tightening of my jaw

\nas I watch a young grackle walking ahead of me

\nhe ducks under the gate

\nwho could use some love

\nand I send it up to the sky
\nand out on to the breeze
\nto gather around
\nthem

\nexpressing much gratitude
\nthat the feeder Is full
\nand I of course and happy

\nlay my head back
\nand I listen

\nand tickle my nose
\nI smile up at the sun
\nand paint myself
\nblue and green
\nred, pink and
\nyellow
\nand I wonder why you would walk
\nwhen you could

\nbrighter still
\nwarms my shoulders
\nand starts to widen my smile
\nI tilt my head

\nI consciously open my heart
\nI offer my gratitude
