The house is quiet
\nwhen I come down
\nand for this, this morning
\nI am grateful
\nI stretch out my arms to
\ngreet the day, and feel this space
\nand the
\nquiet
\nI smile and \u00a0I breathe
\npour my coffee and gaze out on filtered bits
\nof sunlight<\/p>\n
September starts cool
\nand I can feel it in my hands
\nthey are stiff and sore
\nbarely able to bend, nor straighten
\ncraggy little nails shorn off
\nfrom work<\/p>\n
I turn on the tap, a little warm water
\nto soothe
\nencourage things to soften
\nand at the trumpet vine outside my window
\nI spot a lovely little hummingbird
\ngathering sweetness<\/p>\n
and I smile with the excitement
\nof a child<\/p>\n
before long I have spotted two more hummingbirds
\nand then my little woodpecker
\nand I think to myself
\nto start the day
\nwith hummingbirds
\nis a very grand thing<\/p>\n
might you
\nhave missed it?<\/p>\n
the day\u2019s news starts with anniversary
\nwishes for friends
\nand new commitments of love
\nshared by others
\nthere is also sunshine and smiles
\nsome sorrow and some loss
\nstill grounded in Love<\/p>\n
I take my walk
\nto the pond
\nand through the flowers
\nrather quiet this morning
\nand still<\/p>\n
this is September\u2019s feel, I suppose
\nas summer starts to wane
\nand the glories of the summer bloom
\nbegin to fade<\/p>\n
the joys are still here
\nmaybe they are softer,
\nquieter, gentler
\na little cooler,
\nbut still here
\nfor the noticing
\nseasons will change
\nbut there\u2019s no need for rushing<\/p>\n
and the need
\nI believe,
\nis still kindness<\/p>\n
so this morning I say my
\nWelcome to September,
\nin gratitude
\nto you<\/p>\n
I smile up as the sun peaks through
\nand I set my intention
\nto kindness and
\nto Love<\/p>\n
and then
\nI go on
