{"id":1639,"date":"2017-10-11T14:30:18","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T18:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=1639"},"modified":"2017-10-11T14:30:18","modified_gmt":"2017-10-11T18:30:18","slug":"and-yet-to-a-falling-for-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=1639","title":{"rendered":"and yet to a falling,  for fall&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em>\u201cFor as long as she could remember, she had thought that autumn air went well with books, that the two both somehow belonged with blankets, comfortable armchairs, and big cups of coffee or tea.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 ~Katarina Bivald<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Well yes,\u00a0 now this sounds about perfect.\u00a0 This morning the air is cool, the sky a white-ish sort of grey with wild wisps of greyer clouds sailing by.\u00a0 A steady bit of rain has been falling, but not yet giving us the good soaking we could use.\u00a0 Outside the window the wind is keeping tree tops in motion, barely bothering with the damp leaves lying on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>This morning,<br \/>\nmost certainly<br \/>\nfeels<br \/>\nlike fall.<\/p>\n<p>It sometimes feels,\u00a0 as if I am trying to avoid this season.\u00a0 It has a waning feeling for me, as things of beauty start to slip slowly away, into dampness, darkness and rot.\u00a0 As if I am trying to keep myself from slipping too.<br \/>\nAs the air begins to change,\u00a0 very real parts of me begin<br \/>\nto ache<br \/>\nhands and fingers stiffen a little more, old familiar pains reappear more frequently.<br \/>\n&#8220;It\u2019s the dampness in the air,&#8221; I hear myself say, like I have suddenly deemed myself some sort of ancient old crone.<\/p>\n<p>Number two son has returned to school, having slipped out in the afternoon. \u00a0\u00a0My husband and I coming in from work yesterday to find a little bit of us missing\u2026\u00a0 both feeling like our thanksgiving weekend went by way too soon.<br \/>\nA thanksgiving tradition of ours to go around the table and say just what we are thankful for was given over mostly to pie this year.\u00a0\u00a0 But time spent together, board games, laughter and movies expanded our gratitude just the same.<br \/>\nI savour this and my heart expands as I revel in the fact that my \u2018kids\u2019 , now all young adults, \u00a0still seem to very much savour this time together as well,<br \/>\nand we all, I believe<br \/>\nbecome<br \/>\nJoy<br \/>\nin each other&#8217;s company.<\/p>\n<p>this is all simple enough wonder for me<br \/>\nand I feel as if I don\u2019t want to miss a minute of it<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0 today, on this rather dreary looking day\u00a0 we start again<br \/>\nto scatter ourselves<br \/>\nlike<br \/>\nleaves<br \/>\none son is back at school, \u00a0and one soon heads to work.\u00a0 My husband has gone off to play golf, not sure if this is true dedication or madness in this weather!\u00a0 Our daughters are busy in the kitchen,<br \/>\nand I<br \/>\nam sitting in my comfy chair,<br \/>\nwith a good book<br \/>\nand a lovely cup of tea,<br \/>\nbeside my window to the world, where I watch the leaves quiver and raindrops dance<br \/>\nnot at all feeling the pull to move<br \/>\nI gather in the comfort<br \/>\nof<br \/>\nstillness<br \/>\ndespite the lack of sunshine,\u00a0 \u00a0I make this<br \/>\nmy spot<br \/>\nfor gratitude<br \/>\nreflecting on the blessings of family, and the kindness of friends<br \/>\nand the (not so) unexpected nature<br \/>\nof love<br \/>\nas spectacles<\/p>\n<p>when I look out<br \/>\nI see you,<br \/>\nmy sweetest simple reminder<br \/>\nto indeed<br \/>\nsavouring<br \/>\nall the<br \/>\nfallishness<br \/>\nof<br \/>\nthis \u2665<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cFor as long as she could remember, she had thought that autumn air went well with books, that the two both somehow belonged with blankets, comfortable armchairs, and big cups of coffee or tea.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 ~Katarina Bivald Well yes,\u00a0 now this&hellip;
