Once again I find myself consumed by a book
\nthat is at once swallowing me whole
\nand leaving bruises on my skin
\nthe cruelty and devastation of fellow humans
\non a people and their history
\nas well as the lasting weight
\nof a terrible guilt
\nseemingly
\nimpossible to wash off
\nor adequately
\ndeny
\nI put myself here in this
\nbook
\nin this time of horrendous unfathomable unkindness
\nand wonder to myself
\nif indeed
\nI would have survived
\n(my heart so easily crumbles here, in the telling)
\nof course,
\nimpossible to even
\nimagine
\nsomehow as this breaks me into tiny pieces
\nparts of me wish to rise up
\ninto iron clad activism
\nand the fight
\nfor
\njustice<\/p>\n
where would I be
\nwhere
\nwould I
\nbe?<\/p>\n
