Awaken from sleep, by a cat stand off
\noutside my bedroom door
\nagainst my will, I get up and negotiate peace talks
\nand a parting of ways
\nwith my foot<\/p>\n
early morning, quiet sleepy house
\nsunshine breaking through clouds
\nfirst things first, outside tousled wild hair, jammies
\nand big boots
\nto feed the birds
\nmild, perfectly acceptable November-ish air
\nsmiles<\/p>\n
all feeders filled, I head inside to the comforts
\nmy chair
\nand my book<\/p>\n
second coffee poured
\na subtle nudge to look
\nat our
\ngrand central
\nand to
\na well-used pad of paper
\ngenerally containing an ongoing grocery list
\nsometime wish list, errant doodles and scratches
\nand to there discover
\nscribbled on the bottom
\na few words of love, added by my Love
\njust this morning
\nbefore he left for work
\nthere, for me to find
\nand so my day begins in perfect
\nwarmth and
\ncontentment<\/p>\n
in the midst of the classical selections
\non the radio
\nthe news breaks in
\nand I wonder to myself why I am ever drawn
\nto listen
\nwas there anything there, I really need
\nto know
\npolitical wrangling\u2019s, over active egos
\nodd celebrations of
\nexposing yet more tumbling pins
\ninstead I choose to think about my son\u2019s upcoming birthday
\nthe graciousness
\nof friendship
\nand the magic of
\nkind generosity<\/p>\n
in today\u2019s world
\nwe seem to have become so tragically me-centric
\nI find myself very conscious of just how many times in writing
\nI say I
\nand I and I and I
\nand why really,\u00a0 should you care so much
\nabout I,
\nor
\nme<\/p>\n
it is not my intention to say
\nlook at me, or here is what you should know about me
\ninstead what I want to say is<\/p>\n
Did you see the sun
\nin all her glory
\nor feel it shine
\non your face
\non your way out the door
\nDid you notice\u2026
\nthe air
\nhave you perhaps been drawn to
\nset intentions for the day
\non something
\nlovely<\/p>\n
It is on us to look outside ourselves
\nto see
\nthe very grandness of the world
\nof simple beautiful things
\nof kindness and of Love
\nif it is this,\u00a0 that we wish
\nto see
\nin the world, and in ourselves
\nto offer it,
\nto be open to it
\nto acknowledge and encourage it
\nas this makes us more susceptible
\nto receiving
\nit<\/p>\n
so I guess what I am trying to say
\nis what if\u00a0 today,
\nwe broaden our focus
\nfrom trivial petty things
\nand things maybe right now
\nthat
\nwe don\u2019t have a need
\nto know<\/p>\n
and instead<\/p>\n
choose one small thing
\nin your sights, in your heart
\nin your surroundings<\/p>\n
one simple
\nthing
\nto see
\nto feel
\nto discover
\nindeed
\nto
\nshare<\/p>\n
and why not
\nmake it something
