Some days you know, \u00a0I think,
\nI just don\u2019t have the strength\u2026
\nto take it all in
\nthe troubling details of the world
\non constant
\nfeed
\nand so instead I make a conscious decision
\nto not consume any
\n\u2018breaking news\u2019 of the day
\nto not have it entering
\nhere<\/p>\n
you might think this leaves me
\nuniformed, ill-informed or unaware
\non the contrary, I am very aware
\nI just make it my choosing what it is I wish to have
\ncoursing through my veins
\nscenting
\nmy skin
\npoisoning my well
\nor almost constantly
\nbreaking my heart<\/p>\n
this week, I take some books down from the shelves
\nbrush off a little dust,\u00a0 run my fingers gently over their covers
\nthen stack them in neat piles
\nI am preparing a care package of sorts for a young girl
\nwho, \u00a0it really pleases me to know, shares a love of reading
\nwhile I am more than happy to lend
\nthe next morning as I bundle them up, I am struck by a little pang of worry
\nI quickly jot down every title, and briefly touch each one
\nnow this bit of ridiculousness, \u00a0is not practicing non-attachment
\nperhaps though, this is how I am carrying my worry
\nfor the world
\nby allowing soft, gentle, wonderful, magical things to go out
\nunaccompanied
\non their own
\nand in trusting that they
\nthat\u00a0 we
\nwill
\nall
\nbe ok<\/p>\n
it is a worry, isn\u2019t it?
\nand I don\u2019t know the answers<\/p>\n
but certainly there are things we can do better
\nin choosing, consciously to be
\nkinder
\ngentler
\nin offering Love and compassion<\/p>\n
for each other
\nto
\neach other
\nand with
\neach other<\/p>\n
and
\nin caring<\/p>\n
certainly we
\ncan do
\nbetter<\/p>\n
for this world…
\ncause I am kind of
\nattached
\nto
