This morning, the sun is shining brightly
\non a fresh dusting of snow that arrived softly
\nand ever so quietly
\nin the night
\nwhen I look out to the front porch, I see tiny little birdie feet
\ntracks in the snow
\nfor me, such a lovely sight
\nmingled among them, larger paw prints
\nand I wonder to myself,\u00a0 who was coming and who
\nwas going?<\/p>\n
It is Family Day weekend here, and number two son is home
\nfrom university
\nso our house is full, I being the first one to wake
\nam sitting quietly deeply absorbed in my book, as each member of the family
\nslowing start to trickle down
\none
\nby
\none
\nand the absolute joy I feel in this blessing,
\nlistening to footsteps above, identifying
\neach one
\never expands
\nmy always grateful heart<\/p>\n
shortly after, news arrives that someone we hold dear
\nhas lost a brother
\nand we reach out to offer our sympathies
\nI think of this lovely fellow, quite soft spoken, kind in spirit
\nand genuine
\nin heart
\nalways personable, cheerful and bright
\nI don\u2019t even know when I might have seen him last,
\nbut the thought of him instantly brings to mind his kindly smile
\na little crooked,\u00a0 almost bashful
\nsure to easily melt a heart
\nand what a blessing to have called him
\nfriend<\/p>\n
and again I am thinking about comings and
\ngoings\u2026<\/p>\n
and just how often we are touched by both
\nand really how very much both, can expand our hearts
\n(even when it feels as if we
\nhave been wrung dry)
\nit is love that saves us<\/p>\n
it is
\nlove
\nthat save us<\/p>\n
again I look out to the porch, in the snow
\nhalf shadow, half light
\nand I think,
\nit is to our good fortune you have come, to make us smile
\nand how very gently made your mark…\u00a0 in these prints
\nand on the hearts of those you have touched
\nand then, to have left
\nwhen at precisely the right moment, it seems
\nhow very wonderful
\nthat you
\nhave
\nfound
\nyour wings \u2665<\/p>\n
