I haven\u2019t had much time for writing lately,
\nthis starts to weigh on me a bit
\ntraffic jams of words have piled up
\nat my ears,
\npartially muffling sounds
\nand inside my chest a moth repeatedly bounces against
\na screen<\/p>\n
I have been, I guess you could say, \u00a0a little heartsick
\nor rather,\u00a0 a lot
\nmy very dear friend, had a barn fire last weekend and suffered a very great loss
\nand I have felt kind of helpless in just how to ease her pain
\nalthough the expression\u00a0 \u2018soul mate\u2019 is bandied around rather loosely these days
\nand because of it\u2019s over-use
\nit is one that I am not really fond of
\n(as I think it starts to lose any actual
\nmeaning)
\nthis friend,\u00a0 I would say is indeed, a very true mate
\nof my soul
\nshe is lovely and kind
\ngentle and often quiet
\nshe is smart and she is strong
\nin many ways that I am
\nnot
\nand she is very
\ntrue
\nthis friend offers me in this world,\u00a0 ease
\nit seems we didn’t so much as meet,\u00a0 but instead instantly recognized each other
\nas a very great exhale
\nas in,\u00a0 ah\u00a0 there you are…
\nwe have both been married the same number of years
\nand put great stock in our unions
\nwe both have four children
\nand we mother in much the same ways
\nwe have many things in common and also
\nmany things to learn from
\neach other
\nshe blesses my life enormously
\nand I am sure to tell her so
\nso,\u00a0 this week I have been putting my energies into
\nsending her all the love I can, to offer support
\nand any comfort I can possibly give to somehow help ease her through
\ngreat tragedy
\nas life at times can be rather
\ntough to bear
\nI believe one should never, ever have to
\ngo
\nit
\nalone<\/p>\n
on a day as I start to write this, I share a visit with someone dear to me
\nwhose heart has been squashed a little
\nwho is feeling kind of bruised and battered
\nfragile, possibly foolish
\nand I try my best with kindness and with love to plump it back up
\nand to gently put it back
\nin its rightful place,\u00a0 restored
\nsoft and strong<\/p>\n
and this has me thinking, as most things do
\nof the gift of choosing a life of great
\ngratitude
\nand just how very important we are
\nto each other
\nin our connections, in our caring
\nhow very necessary it is to be loving and kind
\nand not too caught up in our own
\nstuff
\nto notice
\nwhen someone could use a squeeze
\nto their spirit
\nas I document very well here, I am not the kind of friend who is constantly in contact
\nI am somewhat guarded with my own space
\nand the ‘invasion’ of such
\nI don\u2019t use the telephone ..\u00a0 like..\u00a0 \u00a0ever
\nbut I do hope I am a good friend,\u00a0 in my own way
\nI am here and if you are in pain,\u00a0 I am genuinely sending all the love and kindness
\nI can muster, \u00a0in your direction<\/p>\n
this is precisely why I live a life of intention
\nof love
\nand of gratitude
\nI collect it,\u00a0 so that…\u00a0 \u00a0I can share it<\/p>\n
because I am quite sincerely always grateful
\nto you
\nmy friend<\/p>\n
we are indeed blessed in this world to have
\neach
\nother
\nand at all times,
\nwe really need
