This morning I am reading in my book by Brother David Steindl-Rast, about his life growing up in Austria.\u00a0 I am currently between the years 1936-1948, the time of Nazi occupation and World War.\u00a0 Families and children disappearing quickly.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the news from the US is full of children being taken from their parents and being put in to large \u2018camps\u2019, tent cities and cages.\u00a0 CAGES!?!
\nAnd it all reads so eerily familiar, \u00a0\u00a0I am wondering just how this can be 2018.<\/p>\n
Today is my day for writing,\u00a0 but I so don\u2019t like being pulled into the atrocities of the world.\u00a0 \u00a0I don’t want this on my skin, or poking holes in my heart.
\nI don’t like trying to somehow make sense of these senseless acts.\u00a0 Not just further irrational acts by a completely irrational man.\u00a0 But just how any and all peoples involved here,
\nand I mean, ALL – as operations of this magnitude takes a lot of people, big and small –
\ncan think this is anything but
\nwrong.<\/p>\n
I don’t want this on my skin,\u00a0 I don’t want this under
\nmy skin
\nI don’t want this running through my veins..<\/p>\n
How, How,\u00a0 How,\u00a0 do we allow these things to happen..\u00a0 How?
\nWe as humanity belong to each other, we are responsible for each other, and we need
\neach other.<\/p>\n
This just can not be.<\/p>\n
It cannot be.<\/p>\n
Again, I turn to the venerable Elie Wiesel<\/strong> for guidance,<\/p>\n \u201cWe cannot indefinitely avoid depressing subject matter, particularly if it is true, and in the subsequent quarter century the world has had to hear a story it would have preferred not to hear – the story of how a cultured people turned to genocide, and how the rest of the world, also composed of cultured people, remained silent in the face of genocide. (v)\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n We just can NOT allow this to be.<\/p>\n We\u00a0 just As I said earlier today, this is not unbelievable,\u00a0 we can see it happening before our very eyes.\u00a0 It is wholly believable. It\u2019s a dear old world, but some times Let me close this with the words of Br. \nit really breaks my heart<\/p>\n
