This morning, sitting outside with my coffee and book (sound familiar)
\nthe day again, \u00a0is gorgeous, sunshine, blue sky, lovely breeze
\nvery briefly as I look around from my vantage point, at the birds,
\nat the flowers,\u00a0 at a beautiful sea of green foliage of all kinds
\nI have a slight feeling of just how fast
\nit will be
\nfleeting
\nit is now mid-July\u2026\u00a0 already
\nthe trumpet vine is open and glorious, and just the other day I marveled at how very full
\nit was
\na bountiful bloom
\nthen a fast hard beating of rain, and much of it
\nlies on the ground
\nit is still just as beautiful, but not quite as full
\nI can feel time passing
\nfor a few flash moments I start to feel a slight panic pulsing
\nuncertainty..\u00a0 it is
\nisn\u2019t it?
\nwhen we feel unknowing, of things to come
\nor of things that have gone
\npowerless to the passing of time
\nworries over decisions made.. or never made
\nmissed opportunities, words not spoken, at the right time
\nthings that could have been done
\nbetter
\nto racing thoughts of future decisions
\nfuture unknowns,\u00a0 uncertainties
\nthings to
\ncome
\nthings to do\u2026 \u00a0things to make
\nbetter<\/p>\n
it is to this I bring my practice
\nand this my desire to
\nbe here
\nnow
\nto just enjoy, to witness, to observe
\nto offer my complete gratitude
\nfor simple things, often otherwise overlooked
\nto relinquish things that never were in my
\ncontrol
\nas well as to acknowledge those things that are not now
\nor ever will be
\nin control
\nof
\nme<\/p>\n
while I sit here tapping out words
\nemptying the contents of my head
\na little chipmunk comes to sit right beside me,
\n(and I have left the camera indoors!)
\npeacefully we each take a moment to regard each other
\nthen, he is off to gather seeds at the feeder
\nwhile I am sat quietly watching
\nhe comes back and forth several times, cheeks full
\nand then he inches up so very close, while he slips in for a drink
\nat the pond
\nthe magic of this is not something you get to experience everyday
\nand I feel blessed by his company
\nby this peaceful encounter
\nby this exchange of mutual
\ntrust
\nby this gratitude
\nand always,
\nby this practice<\/p>\n
this – \u00a0to be here
\nright now
\nthis state of
\nbeing
\nwhere every blessing of peace
\nis welcome<\/p>\n
this
\nis the heart
\nof
\nme<\/p>\n
and so it is a practice for me
\nto always
\nstart here<\/p>\n
when in doubt, clear your mind
\nand
\nfollow your heart…<\/p>\n
