{"id":2441,"date":"2018-10-07T14:48:12","date_gmt":"2018-10-07T18:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=2441"},"modified":"2018-10-07T17:47:46","modified_gmt":"2018-10-07T21:47:46","slug":"thanks-and-giving-and-giving-thanks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=2441","title":{"rendered":"thanks and giving and giving thanks&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yet another bit of grey\u2026<\/p>\n<p>It is our Thanksgiving weekend, and yesterday the increasing fallish-ness of the season starts to weigh on me a little.<br \/>\nWith things to celebrate, and a long weekend to enjoy, I find myself feeling just a little less than<br \/>\ncelebratory.<br \/>\nAnother round of the loud and obnoxious, \u00a0less than masterfully muscling through, attempting to dispel the sane and rational.\u00a0 The endless barrage of nasty politics on display both south of the border as well as here.\u00a0 Those who raise their voices the loudest, are not the problem solvers or the peace makers.\u00a0 Mostly they are just the loud and belligerent.<br \/>\nWhat is it we are to tell our young people, our sons and our daughters?<br \/>\nThat this is how we are to be &#8211;\u00a0 human???<\/p>\n<p>As well there is this,\u00a0 as it is a holiday weekend, \u00a0if there is a holiday to be shared,\u00a0 my husband happens to work in an industry where people go to share in time together.\u00a0 Which means, he is not here,\u00a0 he is there.\u00a0 \u00a0Well now, to be fair I did get to see him this morning, before he left for work, and yesterday morning too.\u00a0 Also let me add the fact that this is not something new for us, he has been doing it for twenty-seven years and most of our weekends and holidays have always been the same, we are well used to it.\u00a0 But yesterday, the climate of the day, had me missing him\u2026<br \/>\nand us.<\/p>\n<p>As I sit down to write out a little bit of a moan,\u00a0 I look up at the window and see the sweetest baby cardinal sitting in the cedar tree..\u00a0 watching me.<br \/>\n<strong>I know where to find my gratitude.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are two baby cardinals in the garden,\u00a0 frequently visiting.\u00a0 The loveliest little peeps are a constant song.\u00a0 They are plump and jolly with expressions of wonder.<br \/>\nI take up my camera and go out for a walk. The garden too feels damp and weighted.<br \/>\nFirst stop at the pond, I watch one of the fish swimming around triumphantly with the longest worm in his mouth.\u00a0 While close by another fish is following behind in hopes of a bit of kindness and sharing.<br \/>\nI make the rounds of greetings to the flowers.\u00a0 I marvel at those still in the coming and give thanks \u00a0to those now in the going.<br \/>\nMy Mr. Blue arrives, to gracious hellos and broad smiles.<br \/>\nIt is quiet, but not quite ..\u00a0 still.<br \/>\nIt feels gentle and soothing to my spirits, to be here.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, this is a day for gratitude,\u00a0 as is every day for me.\u00a0 I am grateful for simple beauty, simple living and simple pleasures.<br \/>\nI am always grateful for laughter with my kids, who really are no longer kids, but rather all young adults.\u00a0 Who each are made up of the best parts of my husband and I and all each their own, so sharp, so smart and so much fun.<br \/>\nI am grateful for love in all its forms.\u00a0 In recognizing, in cultivating, in encouraging and inviting love to grow bold and expressive and strong.<br \/>\nI am grateful for each tiny bit of goodness that enters here.\u00a0 For kindness, and caring and friends that sustain.<\/p>\n<p>And then in the distance a great gathering of voices,<br \/>\nyou run to window to see them,<br \/>\nthree big flocks of geese flying in formation,<br \/>\nand all the beauty of this.. makes your heart sing<br \/>\nand your smile<br \/>\nso very deeply felt.<\/p>\n<p>On a day that is devoted to giving thanks,<br \/>\nand to being thankful,<br \/>\nIsn\u2019t it quite the nicest thing to spread gratitude instead of the usual fare?<br \/>\nAs each tiny little morsel can so easily expand<br \/>\nones heart<br \/>\nWon\u2019t you tell me, what is it<br \/>\nYou<br \/>\ncan find<br \/>\nto be grateful for?\u00a0 \u2665<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2443\" src=\"http:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0614.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0614.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0614-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0614-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0614-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0614-1170x878.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yet another bit of grey\u2026 It is our Thanksgiving weekend, and yesterday the increasing fallish-ness of the season starts to weigh on me a little.
