{"id":2512,"date":"2018-11-11T14:13:50","date_gmt":"2018-11-11T19:13:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=2512"},"modified":"2018-11-11T17:30:11","modified_gmt":"2018-11-11T22:30:11","slug":"elevenses-and-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=2512","title":{"rendered":"Elevenses and peace &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>11<sup>th<\/sup> hour, 11<sup>th<\/sup> day, 11<sup>th<\/sup> month<\/p>\n<p>I am not much of a traditionalist, that is to say,<br \/>\nI don\u2019t believe in always following all traditions<br \/>\nsimply because they are<br \/>\nI don\u2019t do appearances just for appearance sake.<br \/>\nI do indeed balk at the word should<br \/>\nand really,\u00a0 I always have<br \/>\nI don\u2019t much do organized religion<br \/>\nor strict often narrow-minded beliefs<\/p>\n<p>I do kindness<br \/>\nI do compassion<br \/>\nI do understanding<br \/>\nmostly what I try to do is<br \/>\nhuman<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t believe I am a forcible parent<br \/>\nin most matters, (especially now that my children are all young adults)<br \/>\nI don\u2019t<br \/>\n<strong>YOU SHOULD<\/strong>, \u00a0\u00a0I don\u2019t<br \/>\n<strong>YOU HAVE TO<\/strong><br \/>\nI am to some extent a very strong proponent of free will<br \/>\nand your own freedom to<br \/>\nchoose<\/p>\n<p>I am very much for open minds<br \/>\nopen hearts<br \/>\nfor education and for<br \/>\nunderstanding<\/p>\n<p>I am always for questions and for<br \/>\nquestioning<\/p>\n<p>I am not for<br \/>\njust because you have told me so<br \/>\njust because you can <strong>SHOUT<\/strong><br \/>\nor just because<br \/>\nyou are forceful<\/p>\n<p>I am not for violence<br \/>\nof any kind<\/p>\n<p>I am for kindness<br \/>\nfor compassion<br \/>\nfor understanding<br \/>\nand<br \/>\nfor peace<\/p>\n<p>having said all that, this morning what expands my heart<br \/>\nis to attend televised Remembrance Day Services in our nations capital<br \/>\nas I do, every year &#8211; by standing, in prayer pose, in my own home<br \/>\nand to have the house grow increasingly silent<br \/>\nas each of my family members today,\u00a0 quietly and of their own accord<br \/>\nfile in behind me<\/p>\n<p>to bear witness<br \/>\nto be touched by the Silver Cross Mother and her story<br \/>\nto look upon delicate faces of the very old<br \/>\nand<br \/>\nthe very young<br \/>\nand to listen closely to Rabbi Reuven Balka (my favourite always)<br \/>\nas he speaks to us<br \/>\nof our connected-ness, of the necessity of out-stretched arms<br \/>\nand<br \/>\nof gratitude<\/p>\n<p>and to be proud<br \/>\nas a parent, as a citizen, as<br \/>\na fellow human on this planet<br \/>\nthat hopefully this little light I shine<br \/>\nhere,\u00a0 in my home\u00a0 (without demanding)<br \/>\nreminds each of us<br \/>\nthat we<\/p>\n<p>are for remembrance<br \/>\nare for respect<br \/>\nare for reverence<\/p>\n<p>for kindness<br \/>\nfor compassion<br \/>\nfor love<\/p>\n<p>and<br \/>\nfor peace<\/p>\n<p>and this we will remember.\u00a0 \u2665<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>11th hour, 11th day, 11th month I am not much of a traditionalist, that is to say, I don\u2019t believe in always following all traditions simply because they are I don\u2019t do appearances just for appearance sake.
