\nthe back drop to the last golden maple leaves
\nyet to fall
\nand the shine of the sun
\nthe crispy crunches under foot of frozen things
\nas I make my rounds to replenish
\nand the instant thank you notes received from the nuthatch
\nas I go
\nthis morning love is inspired by time spent early,
\nfinishing a really good book
\nthat has me desperately wanting to read aloud to my husband
\nbut instead leaving it for him to read
\nnext
\nit\u2019s the blue jays at the feeder all boldness
\nand beauty
\nthe return of the juncos
\nand a black squirrel posed on a pumpkin
\nit is the soft blush of roses suspended in bud
\nand the fading of others that bring to mind
\nlovely roast marshmallows
\nit is the small piling of snow on a dried sunflower
\nwhose head remains un-bothered by the fluffy white cap,
\nit stands, bowed
\nin silent slumber
\nit is also the clinging to a colourful life in pinks and yellows
\nof the campfire rose in the cold fresh air
\nand the small bit of purple still showing sincerely
\non the phlox
\nit’s the furry grey bush of a tail hanging in the corner
\nof the feeder
\nbackside turned out
\nwhile he whispers to himself
\nof his bounty
\nthis morning it is a fresh cool walk
\nof gratitude
\ntime to breathe,\u00a0 to look, \u00a0to see, to
\nopen
\nand
\nto say thank you<\/p>\n
this morning I am in love with a bright blue sky
\nas now
\nit has all but turned to grey
\nand what a shame it would have been
\nto have missed it.\u00a0 \u2665<\/p>\n
