Once a rather sad and spiteful man said that I
\nwas damaged goods.
\nThis was said as to be the ultimate nasty jab, not just meant for me, but aimed also at \u00a0my family.
\nAt the time, it was easily brushed off. \u00a0‘Sticks and stones, wee man , \u00a0sticks and stones…

But this is not always the case.
\nOver time a poison dart can start to burn a little
\nis this a stabbing fester who’s infections will grow
\nor perhaps upon closer inspection,
\nreflection
\naffection
\ncan begin to heal.
\nFamilies I suppose are often damaged goods.
\npeople brought together by circumstances,
\nwho grow sometimes all together differently,
\nwho’s impressions of life don’t always sound the same
\nfeel the same
\nlook
\nthe same
\nwho’s ‘through thick and thin’ can sometimes feel
\nvery,
\nvery thin ..
\nEven very close ties can sometimes become strained
\ntaken for granted
\npulled too tight
\nballed up in knots
\nMiscommunication, perceived notions, slights and unfamiliar stories
\ntoo busy, too far apart, too shut down
\nYou don’t understand!
\nYou don’t remember!
\nYOU

possibly there is a gift hiding in those damaged goods
\na healing time
\nto be more open
\nto not feel bound to one another
\nto not feel the weight
\nof the unforgiven<\/p>\n
to choose

it always rests with you
\nand in you

to choose
\nto open ourselves up
\nto kindness
\ntowards each other<\/p>\n
to not accept
\na hurtful noise

to instead come from
