I\u2019ve had a visitor in the night
\nor possibly very early this morning
\nthe evidence of such left in small paw prints up the walk
\nin the dusting of snow that fell over night
\nwhat a lovely sight<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve been wrestling a bit
\nwith the mood of December
\njust the usual really,
\nfar too many grey days and me..
\nfeeling the pinch of time and busy schedules
\nhow to make things special .. enough
\nwhile balking at rampant consumerism
\nand how to find the
\nsoftest spot in the
\nmiddle<\/p>\n
I know me
\nand I can feel me
\nas things start to swirl inside and the monkeys run wild
\nwith their chatter, chatter, chatter
\nall the while, taking little nips and tugs
\nI cannot easily quell them
\nso
\nI have been trying to be
\ngentle
\nwith myself..\u00a0 and with others
\n(and if at first you don’t succeed..\u00a0 to try, try again..)<\/p>\n
this morning, I see the loveliest covering of white
\nbrightening the landscape
\ndusting the trees
\nand these small paw prints up the walk and onto the porch
\nand I think,\u00a0 this is it\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 isn\u2019t it<\/p>\n
this is my wish
\nto walk softly and gently through my days
\nand to bring with me wherever I go, a softness and a gentleness
\nto your days,\u00a0 in some small way
\nto not add to the ruckus and rampages of life
\nto not shout, to not sneer
\nbut to always bring kindness
\nas an offering<\/p>\n
to practice mindfulness and
\ngratitude
\nto express sincere appreciation for gifts I am given
\nand for those I encounter<\/p>\n
to open myself up to wisdom and to everyday
\nmiracles
\nto greet each day joyfully,\u00a0 and when I cannot..
\nto not tread too heavily
\nas I go
\nand always to choose to walk in peace
\nand love<\/p>\n
to you, this holiday season
\nmay life\u2019s brightest blessings reach you
\nand find you
\njust<\/p>\n
