You know you used to walk in the morning
\nup early, gear on
\nout the door in all weathers
\nyou\u2019d go
\nnow it seems the unruly swells of hormonal waves
\nhave you hesitant to leave the house
\nunless accompanied by someone you love and
\ntrust
\nholding on to the feelings
\nof safe
\nsome days
\nrather embarrassingly but admittedly,
\nyou are terrified
\nof the outside world
\nI suppose you\u2019ve never been any different, really
\ninternally terrified would probably best describe you
\nas a child
\nfor many reasons,
\nI know\u2026<\/p>\n
I know<\/p>\n
you know sometimes when I see you, I think to myself
\nugh.\u00a0 what has happened to your face?
\nyou really should smile more, (on the outside)
\ntime is starting to pull things
\ndown
\nis that another chin..
\nwhy don\u2019t you get on with doing something about this?<\/p>\n
you know there was a time when maybe you really thought
\nyou were the greatest mother,
\nyour shining moment
\ndependable little creatures who need you so,
\nmore often now, you worry what have you really
\ngiven?<\/p>\n
what if you and I met just inside
\nthe gate
\nwould I greet you with a look of disgust
\ntell you exactly what I\u2019ve been thinking
\nattempt to knock some sense in
\nlet you know just how much you let me
\ndown
\npush you out.. on your own..<\/p>\n
or would we embrace
\nand hold on in that for a few extra minutes
\nto squeeze tight
\nwould I take your hand
\nand listen, while softening my heart
\nwould I begin just quietly
\npatching up the little holes
\nthat seem to be letting the cold in
\nwould I point out to you how blue the sky is gleaming
\nhow that little wisp of cloud looks just like a heart
\nand doesn\u2019t this sun feel glorious<\/p>\n
would we walk along in contemplation
\nof beautiful things
\nand find them in dappled light<\/p>\n
and as we wander
\nwould we look for signs of kindness
\nand be ever so thankful
\nto have found them
\nhere
\ngolden apples..\u00a0 in the snow<\/p>\n
and then maybe once again
\nI would commend your honesty and how it is you choose
\nto face the sun
\nregardless…
\nand again,\u00a0 I would\u00a0remind you
\nhow very easy it is to see
\nbeautiful things<\/p>\n
when the very real beauty of things<\/p>\n
is what
