Once again we find ourselves in the
\nsorting through of
\nlife<\/p>\n
as we have done maybe seven or
\neight times<\/p>\n
for my own parents, \u00a0several moves
\nand after two then became
\none
\nfor my Gran sizing down an apartment
\nthen
\nto a nursing home
\nand after her passing
\nto what remained
\nfor in-law’s moves a couple of times
\nand now again for a 92 yr old mother-in-law
\nthe necessity of
\nsizing down<\/p>\n
we have done, my husband and I
\nthe physical stuff, the emotional stuff
\nthe exhaustive
\nstuff
\nwhen there is time, when there isn’t time…
\nthe sorting through memories and such
\nthe holding on, the letting go
\nand we are again in the process of bringing it all
\nthe extras, the excess, the obsolete
\nhere
\nto our house, to be sifted<\/p>\n
each time we have carried in boxes upon boxes
\nand bags
\npiled it up, and piled it up
\nand when there is time..
\nwe begin
\nto eliminate<\/p>\n
amazing what one can accumulate in a lifetime
\nand what things we continue to
\ncarry with us
\nuseful things and used less things
\nthe flotsam and jetsam of everyday living
\nand always one thinks, I will not keep this much stuff
\n(but of course we do)
\nkeep<\/p>\n
outside my window,
\nI have been keeping my eye on
\nblue balloon
\nhe has now moved back up to the front garden
\nwhere I can see him from the window by my chair
\nwith winter temperatures getting increasingly frigid,
\nand he with a little sag and a little wrinkle
\nI\u2019d been thinking possibly that
\nhe had reached his final
\nresting place
\nbut Wednesday morning, as a frosty wind blew
\nI said to my husband, quite excitedly,
\n‘Blue balloon is on the move!’
\nI wonder if it is because he is so free
\nthat he survives so
\ninside him is
\nthe breath of life and outside
\nhe shines
\nhe has fresh air, sunshine and the company of birds
\nand at night
\nhe has the stars<\/p>\n
important things in life to accumulate
\ngratitude
\nlove and admiration
\nbreath, and spaces to breathe
\nsunshine and the
\nfreedom to
\nmove…\u00a0 when one wishes
\nand always, a time
\nto rest<\/p>\n
the wisdom to know
\nwhat it is we should keep..\u00a0 holding on to
\nand a gracious reconciling of
\npeace
\nwhen it is<\/p>\n
we are asked
\nto let go \u2665<\/p>\n
