Do you ever think yourself an
\nodd duck
\nit\u2019s a funny kind of term, isn\u2019t it
\nodd as in don\u2019t quite fit in or stands out
\nof not so full of same-ness
\nand funny because of course none of us are entirely the
\nsame
\nalthough often, we do try
\nin fashions and styles, in trends
\nto keep up, to emulate, to
\nreplicate
\nto somehow liken ourselves to
\nothers
\ninstead of viewing ourselves as
\nsingular beauty<\/p>\n
today, in the midst of a deep freeze, it is far too cold
\nfor much of a wander
\nso I am viewing things from my windows
\nI have been watching and photographing an icicle
\nthat hangs just outside, sort of
\nabove
\nmy kitchen sink
\nwhere I stand to wash the dishes and to
\nthink over things that
\npique
\nit glistens when the sun shines
\nand at night in shadows
\nsomehow it still reflects the light
\nand in it I find
\nsingular beauty
\neach day it changes a little
\nlong and slender with undulating curves
\nsometimes wider,\u00a0 sometimes
\nnarrow
\nnever will it be the same as the one beside it
\nand really,\u00a0 from what I can see from here
\nnever..
\nwill it care<\/p>\n
singular in beauty
\nit flows with the breath of life
\nalways reflecting
\nlight<\/p>\n
do ever think yourself a bit
\nof an odd duck
\nfor some reason this little phrase
\nseems to be hanging like icicles in my head today
\nwaiting for the light
\nto
\ncatch<\/p>\n
I wonder how far along we would be
\nif instead of looking out
\nat the cold
\nwith a constant need to improve, to be like
\nto be
\nsame
\nwe began by viewing ourselves with softer eyes
\nand each day, we found a way to let our own
\nsingular beauty<\/p>\n
