How to unpack the heaviness of the things
\nwe carry?<\/p>\n
I am known to carry useless things
\nthe weight of the worries of someone else
\ncoupled with my own insecurities
\nand fears
\nmounds of things \u2018temporarily stored\u2019, growing in piles
\nupon piles
\nto be sifted through
\nat
\nanother time<\/p>\n
when sometimes the weight of these things
\nstart chewing little holes
\nentering
\nmy dreams
\nI know it is time\u2026<\/p>\n
how is it one begins to unpack
\nthe things we unwittingly carry
\nsomeone else\u2019s pain and suffering, we are useless to do
\nanything about
\nsomeone else\u2019s questions, more than mirroring our own
\nwithout clear answers<\/p>\n
holding one\u2019s breath
\nforgetting to exhale..\u00a0 enough
\nfilling my baskets with more weight than even I
\nmaybe capable of carrying
\nhoping that you
\nwill somehow ..\u00a0 feel lighter
\nturning over rocks, searching for unknown
\nsolutions<\/p>\n
struggling with reaching out,\u00a0 countered by a very real need
\nto withdraw
\nturtle back in,\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 uncertainties\u2026
\nand wondering which of these acts of endangerment
\nmerely feeds one\u2019s ego<\/p>\n
time to consciously release the tight hold
\nof my jaw<\/p>\n
and ask yet again
\nfor kindness<\/p>\n
because if we do not offer each other
\nkindness, I tell him
\nwe have nothing\u2026<\/p>\n
we have nothing<\/p>\n
I am aware this is of my own doing
\nI tend to carry things
\nwith
\nweight
\nadopt them, \u00a0as my own<\/p>\n
today then becomes a rebellious act
\nof forceful
\nsurrender
\nin an effort to unpack a few things
\nI cannot solve<\/p>\n
because how else would one ever walk upright
\nunder the weight of
\nsuch burdens<\/p>\n
if not for the very real presence
\nof kindness,
\nof love
\nand of gratitude<\/p>\n
to cushion
\nthe
