The day begins aware that the fingers on my right hand
\nhave no wish to unfurl
\ngracefully
\noverworked
\nlaying, gazing at my husband\u2019s skin
\nthe trail of tiny hairs that run down
\nhis back
\nwanting to reach out and gently trace it
\nwith
\nmy fingers
\nnot wishing to disturb his sleep
\nwhile easily writing him a love letter
\nin my head<\/p>\n
he gets up just before me
\nwhen I come down, he is looking out the window
\nlook at all the finches in that tree, he says
\nI slip my feet into his boots
\nand go out
\nare you going to scare away all those birds?
\nhe asks
\nquite the contrary really,\u00a0 as I step out
\nwith the food
\nno one leaves, \u00a0instead all in unison
\nthey break into a jubilant chorus
\nit\u2019s quite fantastic
\nthe finale, a gathering of chick-a-dees
\nall chick-a-dee-dee-dee-ing together
\nI smile wide, breathe deeply in
\nand in a swelling of gratitude
\nthink to myself\u2026 \u00a0and out loud
\nwhat a way
\nto begin a day
\nwhat a way<\/p>\n
to begin<\/p>\n
feels like I am on the cusp, you know
\nof dullness and light
\nmid-February blahs, awaiting change in the garden
\nstewing over possible change in other aspects
\nof my life
\nwhilst also feeling a great funneling of love
\nsteadily pouring in
\nfilling me up
\nI know which way I am leaning
\nmarveling at the vastness of light
\noffered by a very full moon
\nsetting everything it touches
\nto sparkling grandeur<\/p>\n
I think to myself
\nand isn\u2019t this just the way
\nwith love<\/p>\n
