has me besotted\u00a0

as will be revealed to you

I am absolutely, and utterly in love\u00a0\u00a0
with my house\u00a0
\u00a0
the history and character\u00a0
ingrained in each stick of wood\u00a0
each lick of paint\u00a0
each creak of a wooden floor board\u00a0
the light, the shadow
occasional cobweb in the corner
even a little \u2026\u00a0 the dust\u00a0
\u00a0
the ghost cat that moves through\u00a0
jumps up\u00a0
on the bed\u00a0
catches one\u2019s eye\u00a0
the occasional thud from upstairs\u00a0
when no-one\u00a0
is\u00a0\u00a0
there\u00a0
odd stamps that appear in a crevice\u00a0
or drawer\u00a0
the sound of a drip\u00a0
with no evidence ever found\u00a0
\u00a0
but mostly, that it has felt like the most wonderful thing\u00a0
since the first time we looked\u00a0
and felt\u00a0\u00a0
its welcome\u00a0
we came at the time with just two in tow\u00a0
then added two more\u00a0
we have accumulated and acquired\u00a0
much\u00a0
attempting to burst a few seams\u00a0
we have rewired, re-plumbed\u00a0
re-roofed, windowed, stuccoed and painted
and always it holds us\u00a0\u00a0
in\u00a0\u00a0
love\u00a0
\u00a0
gladly absorbing both laughter and tears\u00a0
joys and pains, loud noises, silences
celebrations and
heartbreak
it holds us <\/p>\n\n\n\n
in gratitude, I love each door
and doorframe\u00a0
each impossible angle\u00a0
and hidden nuance\u00a0
I love the railing on the stairs\u00a0
the trapdoor to the attic\u00a0
and the secrets\u00a0
behind the\u00a0\u00a0
walls\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I love that it suits us\u00a0
that it holds us\u00a0
that it\u00a0
cares\u00a0
when we\u2019re here\u00a0
\u00a0
and each night\u00a0
in gratitude\u00a0
I thank it for loving\u00a0\u00a0
us\u00a0
\u00a0
