It could happen that in the morning
you
have (not so unexpectedly)
awoken the bear
after a fitful sort of night
sugar indulged
night sweats
and a sore neck
it will stay with you, this bear
carrying flashing signs of
trauma and shame
attaching them to your heels
to
drag behind, as if
being chased
the only way you know to keep it
from lashing out
at everyone in the house
is to lead it out, deeper into the forest
which really
just happens to be the garden
where over dramatization seems to suit the day <\/p>\n\n\n\n
out here it\u2019s a whole new\u00a0\u00a0
morning,\u00a0
where everything that greets you is\u00a0
kindness\u00a0
dirt, worms and a toad\u00a0
the blue jays and a woodpecker\u00a0
trim the roses, pull a little grass\u00a0
cut away old stalks
feel the air, watch the sky\u00a0
touch the\u00a0\u00a0
sun\u00a0
\u00a0
let words wash over\u00a0
and through\u00a0
breathe deeply in\u00a0
then\u00a0
out\u00a0
\u00a0
then do it again\u00a0
but\u00a0
slower, deeper\u00a0
softer\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
go gently on yourself
allow
the bearish-ness to fluff itself
a little
as your hands move through
clumps of dirt and sticks
welcome a patient kind of
ease
as a rather large bee
bumps along the tightly closed
blossoms of the
crabapple tree, searching for something
sweet <\/p>\n\n\n\n
release the clenching of your
jaw
and just… <\/p>\n\n\n\n
be here
with <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Love <\/p>\n\n\n\n
for this day <\/p>\n\n\n\n
