I was talking the other day, with a friend of my son\u2019s
about the strange-ness of the times\u00a0\u00a0
we are experiencing\u00a0
and just how it may be affecting many a life\u00a0
in different ways\u00a0
in this case young adults who felt they may have\u00a0
begun in earnest\u00a0
burgeoning careers, educations, adventures\u00a0
plans for the immediate and\u00a0\u00a0
futures\u00a0
only to have it all come to a rather unceremonious\u00a0
halt\u00a0
by circumstances way beyond anyone\u2019s\u00a0
control or for that matter\u00a0
experience\u00a0
has me thinking this morning, for some reason\u00a0
of a time for me, as a young teenager\u00a0
fifteen and subsequently sixteen\u00a0\u00a0
when unencumbered carefree days
were dramatically interrupted\u00a0
by a need for separate operations on both of my hips\u00a0
the uncertainties\u00a0\u00a0
talking with teachers regarding disrupted education\u00a0
and how it all would work (or not)\u00a0
a time when friends went on with life and\u00a0
living\u00a0
while you laid in traction, strung up to pulleys\u00a0\u00a0
dealing with bedsores\u00a0
a time when a friend\u2019s mother would travel\u00a0
the distance to visit\u00a0
but the friend, could think of better things to do\u00a0
than to sit\u00a0
in a somewhat uncomfortable environment\u00a0
missing out
(understandable by teenage\u00a0
standards)\u00a0
a time when high school dances and activities went on\u00a0
while you sat for the first time on the side of the bed\u00a0
to get your bearings,\u00a0supported by nurses\u00a0
before the difficulties of\u00a0
the simple act of learning to walk\u00a0
again\u00a0
a time when the constant presence of crutches\u00a0
don\u2019t much enhance one\u2019s party\u00a0
attire or the irresponsible, misadventurous need\u00a0
to run\u00a0\u00a0
and when you have sufficiently shed yourself of the\u00a0
bothersome things\u00a0
it is just about time, to go back\u00a0\u00a0
for the second round\u00a0
life is certainly altered and forever affected\u00a0\u00a0
by these sorts of interruptions\u00a0
years that at times feel much like a blur\u00a0
or a\u00a0
blip to some\u00a0
the many things that form, or rather\u00a0
inform us\u00a0\u00a0
as to the nature of how very little of life\u2019s unfolding\u00a0
is in our control\u00a0
and just how it is… we\u00a0\u00a0
deal\u00a0
this again is one of the reasons I speak much\u00a0\u00a0
about kindness\u00a0
as possibly we are always and forever\u00a0
developing our sense of\u00a0
self\u00a0
our wings on the way down\u00a0
as is said\u00a0
paths in life are quite often travelled with much\u00a0
uncertainty\u00a0
that\u2019s what makes it all the more comforting\u00a0
to sometimes be met\u00a0
with the understanding heart\u00a0
of just one\u00a0\u00a0
kind\u00a0
soul\u00a0
I hope in these days, as well
in\u00a0
offering it here <\/p>\n\n\n\n
to always find myself counted
