Today my ode to a remarkable group of friends
known as
The Spa Girls,
first may I begin with full disclosure, to say that I am not one of the Spa Girls
although I do believe I know all or certainly most of the girls at least by association,
and this allows me to listen and observe and greatly admire (as I do)
from the \u2018outside\u2019 in \u2013 I will not be giving away any \u2018exclusive insider
information\u2019 \ud83d\ude09
I suppose what I really want to say to these lovely ladies today
is
Thank you,
Thank you for demonstrating the true meaning of
Girl Power
a group of strong intelligent women
who love and support each other in all ways
who gather, as they do
each year for a weekend of debauchery
where rumour has it
that
copious amounts of wine and good food
are consumed
where laughter and silliness is encouraged
and celebrated
where possible tears and\/or trials are
held and nurtured
where the actual bonds of friendship and love
are brought together, honoured and
strengthened
greatly
Life for any of us in never linear
it is at times a rollercoaster ride with many a twist and turn
often ones we never could have anticipated
what this group of friends has created is an unbreakable chain
the comfort of knowing they are there for each
as a group
whether in the coming together, as in a marriage
of the coming apart
when a devastating health crisis suddenly affects one
it naturally
affects all
even in the unthinkable loss
of one of their own, near
and so
dear
the collective grace of loving kindness
sees them through
all things met with unwavering love and support
at a moment\u2019s notice
Each I believe knows, just which of them
would be jumping into the front cars of this ride,
who occupies the centre, the heart, the
grounding
and who might just hang back a little
and equally as importantly
become
the anchor
most probably these seats are
interchangeable at times
as friendships go
but they will always know just who
they can count on
and this I believe is a pretty remarkable thing
So as this is the weekend the Spa Girls
meet
I wanted to offer my admiration and \u00a0sincere gratitude
to you
who gather
in Love, in Kindness, in unwavering friendship
and support
and say Thank you for showing us
the way women and continued everlasting
friends
should always be celebrated
You do it well, you do it right
and you certainly
put something good
in the world \u2665
