This morning I notice\u00a0
the return of the Juncos to my feeder,\u00a0
and this\u2026\u00a0\u00a0
\u201cI wish you wouldn\u2019t have called me a poet,<\/em>\u00a0
now every morning I wake up and try to prove it.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0
blesses my day,\u00a0
of ways to begin in gratitude \u2013 commune with birds,\u00a0
and enjoy the gentle visit of a very kind friend\u00a0
who knows.

so begins my day in thankfulness,\u00a0
I marvel at those who can put into words\u00a0
things you can feel might\u2019ve once belonged\u00a0
to\u00a0\u00a0
you\u00a0
though written with much more elegance\u00a0
thoughts that might appear in a bubble above your head\u00a0
as you pass by a mirror\u00a0
on your way down the stairs\u00a0
had you been able to organize yourself better\u00a0
after another night of broken sleep\u00a0
yet also having slept in a little, as the one you love\u00a0
who also loves you, volunteered to get up with\u00a0
the geriatric dog who can no longer see\u00a0
that it\u2019s still dark,\u00a0
and let you rest\u00a0
\u00a0
bask in simple kindness\u00a0
\u00a0
a succession of damp days and encroaching cooler temperatures\u00a0
has overworked hand and elbow joints\u00a0\u00a0
increasingly stiff and sore\u00a0
nothing at all to do with another birthday approaching\u00a0
in just a few days\u00a0
I have decided to keep rather low key this year\u00a0
no whole week stuff, no pre-promotion\u00a0
(although, you might find on playing this bit backwards\u00a0
I may have inadvertently just let something slip!)\u00a0
the dull ache of things serves as a reminder\u00a0
of how important it is to\u00a0\u00a0
move\u00a0
and also, always ushers in the call\u00a0\u00a0
for a little more\u00a0\u00a0
kindness\u00a0
\u00a0
while I am reading,\u00a0
my husband goes to dump off some branches\u00a0
and trimmings from around the garden\u00a0
then returns with a carload\u00a0\u00a0
calls me to come out and have a look\u00a0
the back is full of four or five large mixed plantings\u00a0
someone has discarded\u00a0
end of season\u00a0
knowing I am a sucker for the abandoned\u00a0
he scoops them all up\u00a0
delivers them to me, dirt and all
like big bundles of the most glorious roses
and I revel in the great surrounding of love\u00a0
and kindness\u00a0
that graces a day, when you\u00a0\u00a0
are open\u00a0
to\u00a0\u00a0
receiving\u00a0
\u00a0
let the rest fall away\u00a0
I only need\u00a0
this\u00a0\u00a0
