tiptoes softly in\u00a0
laying down quietly on your doorstep\u00a0
and calmly waits\u00a0
for you to notice…\u00a0

much difficulty sleeping of late,\u00a0
bothered by unruly sinus congestion\u00a0
has me slightly panicking in the night trying to breathe\u00a0
now this morning seems to have plugged up one ear\u00a0
ugh!\u00a0
\u00a0
also, last night in the throes of a rather violent dream\u00a0
think I may have actually\u00a0\u00a0
kicked the small elderly dog\u00a0
sleeping innocently at my feet\u00a0
apologies made, have since been accepted\u00a0
\u00a0
as well, comes the season of work-related Christmas-y things\u00a0
of which\u00a0
I am not a fan\u00a0
nor am I (any longer) a willing participant\u00a0
a thing much easier for me to decide against,\u00a0\u00a0
than for some others\u00a0
to understand\u00a0
voice once again appreciation for generosity, but also\u00a0\u00a0
acknowledgement for where I am\u00a0\u00a0
most\u00a0
comfortable\u00a0
\u00a0
having not bothered to look for several days,\u00a0
still slightly annoyed by the bombardment of my inbox\u00a0
for flash sales and\u00a0\u00a0
hand-outs,\u00a0
I rather triumphantly dump sixty-two messages\u00a0
and feel a kinder space\u00a0
begin to open\u00a0
\u00a0
gladly then,\u00a0
I take in the morning\u00a0
with\u00a0\u00a0
a dose of easy gratitude\u00a0
a day off when I can feel myself walking a fine line\u00a0
between ease and overwhelm\u00a0
knowing full well that I would much rather stay on the sunnier side\u00a0
of the street\u00a0
I then answer the call, to greet December\u00a0
in the out of doors\u00a0
\u00a0
stepping into this new day\u00a0
I breathe deeply in\u00a0fresh crisp morning air\u00a0
standing quite still at first, just to take in\u00a0\u00a0
the simplicity of this\u00a0
enormous\u00a0\u00a0
gift\u00a0
\u00a0
breathing deeply in\u00a0
filling myself with the breath\u00a0
of December
\u00a0
followed soon after by a quiet walk\u00a0
in the garden
the morning in full cloud, cast in a dull but gentle\u00a0\u00a0
light\u00a0
sounds of only the birds and the drip-drip-dropping\u00a0of water\u00a0
off the roof\u00a0
snowy crunch, under foot
I wandered slowly and quietly
looking at signs of beautiful things\u00a0\u00a0
that remain\u00a0
\u00a0
waiting only\u00a0\u00a0
for grateful notice\u00a0
and the touch\u00a0
of\u00a0\u00a0
appreciation\u00a0
\u00a0
for\u00a0their\u00a0\u00a0
