When I am being frivolous\u00a0

I spend my time looking at beautiful things,\u00a0
like sunshine on the snow, how it sparkles\u00a0
magically deceiving us into thinking how lovely it would be\u00a0
to put our footprints down\u00a0
never minding the ghastly windchill\u00a0
and how it might so sneakily \u00a0
nip\u00a0
\u00a0
and listening to things that soothe\u00a0
like the harmonious snores of both the dog\u00a0
and the cat in unison\u00a0
lazily stretched out by my chair
in sunbeams\u00a0
that have danced across their beds\u00a0
how wonderfully warm and shiny it looks\u00a0
glossing upon\u00a0
black fur\u00a0
\u00a0
when I am being frivolous\u00a0
as today,\u00a0
I leave the anger, out-smarts and protests of the righteous\u00a0
to their bidding\u00a0
like a dark tangle of branches
and instead, indulge myself in seeking\u00a0\u00a0
a few new books \u00a0
of \u00a0
poetry\u00a0
to set the world to \u00a0
rights\u00a0
\u00a0
I luxuriate in words sent by\u00a0someone lovely\u00a0
a small bit of light and quite\u00a0\u00a0
familiar\u00a0
that feel like sharing an afternoon tea\u00a0
macaroons on the side\u00a0
refills \u00a0
to follow\u00a0
\u00a0
I breathe in cold fresh air\u00a0
deeply and fully\u00a0
with a smile that delights\u00a0
like cotton candy, sugary and sweet\u00a0
deliciously dissolving on the tongue in an instant\u00a0
then moving slowly and decadently \u00a0
through the body\u00a0
\u00a0
and when it has reached my toes\u00a0
made them curl just a little\u00a0
I send it back through on an exhale\u00a0
of deep satisfaction\u00a0
\u00a0
when I am being frivolous\u00a0
as today,\u00a0
on the breath of understanding,\u00a0
I expand my heart to include you and add ease\u00a0
to your day\u00a0
wishing you well, as a way to share with you\u00a0
my \u00a0
love\u00a0

and I sit\u00a0
contentedly so\u00a0
tack down a few words\u00a0
and try to disguise\u00a0
that I may have\u00a0
just bought\u00a0
