\u266a\u266a who can take the world on with her smile,<\/em>
\nwho can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile .. \u266a<\/em><\/p>\n

I often wake with random song lyrics running through my head,
\nusually a reflection of how I am feeling,
\nor something that briefly occurs
\nand puts me in mind of a song
\nmy ‘soundtrack’ i guess,
\nof sorts<\/p>\n

this morning I put my sweater on backwards
\nwhich ever so briefly annoyed me,
\nand then just as quickly made me smile<\/p>\n

and this it seems
\nis the nature of me
\nsome days my smile is ever present
\nopen and free<\/p>\n

but there are those days
\nwhen it lays hidden
\ntrapped inside
\nof overthinking and anxiousness
\nwhen I have set my jaw
\nto grit
\nand my sights
\nbecome scowl<\/p>\n

and this is when it is necessary
\nfor me to bring myself to mindfulness
\nto the simple act
\nof being
\nmindful \u00a0and not
\nmind ‘full’
\nto the practice of conscious living
\nwhich some days, can very much
\nneed<\/p>\n

\npractice<\/p>\n

and yes, to gratitude<\/p>\n

to a softening of my face,
\nmy jaw and cheeks
\nto closing my eyes
\nand feeling a lovely warm liquid
\nslowly pour through my body
\neasing every muscle
\nin to soft supple comfort<\/p>\n

to a stretching of my neck
\nand breathing deeply and fully
\ninto my scrunched up lungs
\nlifting my chest
\nfilling my body with a glorious
\nlightness of being<\/p>\n

and to resting in this<\/p>\n

and to breathing<\/p>\n

ever so slowly releasing
\nthe strains of life<\/p>\n

just … \u00a0breathe<\/p>\n

when i gradually re-open my eyes
\nand turn to the window
\nmy focus is instantly caught
\nby the gorgeous red breast
\nof a cardinal
\nsitting just quietly
\nperhaps watching over
\nme …<\/p>\n

and there it is
\nmy smile<\/p>\n

most days this ‘practice’ inhabits
\nmy natural state
\nbut in the humanness of me
\nthere are most certainly
\ndays,
\nwhen i need to be reminding myself
\nand minding my self<\/p>\n

to soften
\nto breathe
\nto go gently<\/p>\n

and yes, some days,
\neven to the mindfulness
\nof dressing myself<\/p>\n

in kindness
\nand Love \u2665<\/p>\n
