On the way up the stairs
in my house
there are two small windows
one is up quite high
the other one you pass each time
you
climb

the up high window is often where
I
in the very early, still dark
hours
of the morning
on the way down
will find myself spotted
by the moon
like a first
secret
kiss
on the forehead

it will always make me smile

the passable one, I peek out
day and night
each time, up or down
most often to look at a garden to the
front
or the lilac that stands by
watching for signs of a bud
and a bloom

Friday morning he calls to me
there\u2019s your shot,
come have a look, bring your camera
sharing a little window space with the cat
I look out,
expecting to see the rabbit
or a cat who frequents (mostly to challenge our indoors)
he points again\u2026

then I spot it, directly outside the window
just to the right
the robins have built a nest
and the robin was sat

to the outside world this nest
is safely tucked away
in the branches of a shrub
but to us, tucked in
right by the small window
on the stairs

now I think to myself
each time of passing,

of all the things I hope I can
create
generate

cul
ti
vate

in this world

I think most
what I\u2019d like to contribute
here
in all of my life

is exactly this

kind of
