From where I sit, I can see
high up in the crab apple tree
a small feather blowing in the breeze
as it quite actively
catches
the
light
and my eye<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I wonder to myself about its
travels
and how it has come to
light
just here<\/p>\n\n\n\n
up through the branches,
the beautiful sky above
both breaking bits of sun
and
plenty of cloud<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This week we steal away
a little morning
for a lunch and birthday celebration
with my lovely Mother-in-law
whose remarkable milestone was turning
ninety-eight!
We don\u2019t get to spend as much time
as we\u2019d like, as my husband has to get to work
but we do spend as much time,
as we can
and enjoy each other\u2019s company
immensely<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the way home, I wonder out loud
if perhaps we should have done more
to which my husband says, the big over-production
grand celebration planning kind of thing\u2026\u00a0
we\u2019re not good at that
True, I say,\u00a0
then half joking ask him
What are we good at\u2026 ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a rhetorical sort of question
but quite quickly, I tell him
good intentions, that\u2019s what we\u2019re good at
good
intentions
and he agrees<\/p>\n\n\n\n
now, this I will tell you,
is not nothing
as you may have been told
I kind of believe that we are led to
beat ourselves up so very much
by trying
sometimes desperately,
to always be more
to keep up, improve, compete
prove our love, prove our love, prove
our
love<\/p>\n\n\n\n
yet sometimes, small simple acts
kindness, caring, witnessing
can come to mean
so very much<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and this matters<\/p>\n\n\n\n
this week too, I come to learn that
my cousin David has died
and the heartbreak I feel for his sister
my cousin Robin, and my beloved Aunt Gayle
sits like a weight on my chest
a really big hearted man, was David
who had his fair share of struggles
yet, never-the-less
was a true light in this world
he was kindness, he was caring
and he did in this life
what he could<\/p>\n\n\n\n
good intentions my friends,
do
catch the light
do sit in the heart
equally
do come good, and
true
and do indeed,
even in our own little ways
put love in the world
and we can all benefit greatly
from knowing
that \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
