this morning early,
I take my time, drawing open
the curtains
slowly waking up the slumbering house
with a soft smile
of greeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n
going out
in the cool fresh air
to feed the birds
say good morning to a nuthatch
who stays
beside me
un
afraid

this morning, in my book yesterday morning, I watch a large cat this day, he is not shooed away later at the grocery store soothed while we\u2019re out in the afternoon, feeling blessed haven and also, today this morning early,I take my time, drawing openthe curtainsslowly waking up the slumbering housewith a soft smileof greeting going outin the cool fresh airto feed the birds say good morning to a nuthatchwho staysbeside meunafraid this morning, in my book\u00a0I…

but my goodness, how this echoes
still
today<\/p>\n\n\n\n
stealthily sneaking through the garden
stopping in at the small pond
for a drink
a rather lovely to-look-at fellow,
tabby in beiges and browns, lots of dark stripes
yet the very same fellow who
will fight with our indoor residents
at every given chance
I call him \u2018Fighty\u2019, as
I did try to be friendly to him once
(through the window)
but he showed me his pugilistic skills
as some kind of threat
instead<\/p>\n\n\n\n
just left
to pass<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as we are checking out
behind me a small baby begins to cry
kicking up a fuss
turning around I see a mother
slightly frazzled
hurriedly trying to scan her purchases
and I offer
a gentle jiggle of the stroller
while she finishes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
her lovely little one almost instantly
closes her beautiful blue eyes
once again<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I pick up something special that
catches my eye
beautifully simple, for a flash second
I debate whether to give it, as a gift
or keep it
for
myself
while knowing full well, that these
are the best
gifts
to give
large letters
of red
spell out the word
H\u00a0\u00a0 O\u00a0\u00a0 P\u00a0\u00a0 E<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
through the fence,
a large bunny comes in to the garden
and for a while we sit by the window
to
watch<\/p>\n\n\n\n
allowing for a safe
gentle
peace<\/p>\n\n\n\n
thinking again about ways in which to be
tender
with all the troubles
of the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in
celebrating the life
of my cousin
