On Sunday night I shook myself awake
certain I could hear my old fella,
our dear dog Ted
barking his little yelp from downstairs
in later years, he did this bark-cry for company
when he could no longer climb the stairs
starting to rise, I threw back my covers
and looked at the clock, 4:44 am
and our old fella
has been gone three weeks<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the past two evenings I have been watching
the new Ken Burns documentary on
Leonardo da Vinci \u00a0
painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor and architect \u00a0
absolutely fascinated by the inexhaustible, extensive workings
and output
of one man\u2019s incredible
mind
that still, in so many ways
touches countless aspects
of the world
today<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a book that has completely swallowed me
whole
a book that has made my stomach churn
that I have sat through most,
tensely,
remorsefully,
hand over mouth
tears blurring lines<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a reader
I like to learn, about people\u2019s
stories
I like to try, to understand things
possibly things, far, far
beyond<\/p>\n\n\n\n
understanding<\/p>\n\n\n\n
feeling person
have been known to
internalize
the pain of others
to
carry things on my skin
until I can find my way, back
to loving kindness
again
this book came highly recommended
and was gifted, by myself, to
myself
for my birthday
but I wasn\u2019t sure\u2026
if I could
do it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a great many I have read,
some still waiting
their turn<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Secret History of A Murder in Mississippi<\/em>
by Wright Thompson<\/strong>
will go
among my very favourite reads
of
all
time <\/p>\n\n\n\n
highly,
highly recommend
that you
read
it.
