I startle myself awake
\nfrom a bad dream
\nheart pounding, restless
\nfull of fear<\/p>\n
as a result, when I do arise
\nI am not feeling
\nrested
\ninstead I am tense
\nanxious
\nfrayed<\/p>\n
my jaw is tight
\nmy thoughts race
\nand I am worried<\/p>\n
about just what …
\nI am unsure<\/p>\n
except the wretched flow
\nof hormones<\/p>\n
my legs hurt
\nmy feet are standing
\nmuch to rigged and firm
\non the ground<\/p>\n
tears are mobilizing
\nready to storm the gates<\/p>\n
I brace myself, tighter
\nI push against
\nshort sharp breaths
\nwithout noticing I further grit my teeth
\nI am becoming
\nstone<\/p>\n
tears begin to pool
\nand one starts to ease itself
\never so slowly and gently down my cheek
\nthen pauses just there
\nuntil I have left my racing mind<\/p>\n
to notice<\/p>\n
and in this
\nI soften
\njust a little<\/p>\n
whispers…<\/p>\n
feel … \u00a0this.<\/p>\n
drawing in
\nI begin to empty
\ndropping away racing thoughts
\neasing tension in my body
\nbreathing in deeply and fully
\nconsciously allowing my feet
\nto gently
\nrest
\non the ground<\/p>\n
exhale …<\/p>\n
allowing every muscle
\nto soften
\nand to just
\nbe<\/p>\n
I’ll need to repeat this
\nI know ..
\nallowing space
\nand ease
\noffering Love
\nand kindness
\nwhere I need it<\/p>\n
because \u00a0today
\nI need it<\/p>\n
and so
\ngently I go
\nwith kindness
\nwith Love<\/p>\n
even with tears if they come
\nand they’ll come<\/p>\n
to opening myself
\nwith ease of breath
\nand ease of mind
\nand yes,
\nto sunshine
\nmy salve<\/p>\n
and to blessing
\nmyself
\na kind of comfort
\ntoday<\/p>\n
fitting too,

to a gentle stretching
\nto a kind of uncovering
\nand to opening
