And so today,
I notice the bloodroot has begun to
bloom
and I forget to get my snap
of this place and this
time

and then the rain begins
followed soon after
by flashes and
booms

when it finishes, or so it appears
the sun breaks through
once again
even a brighter bit of blue
and I think to grab my camera and
venture out<\/p>\n\n\n\n

what grabs me today, outside in this mild air
in the promise of beautiful things
is just how much I miss
my big furry boy
our Ted
and Ted did not like thunderstorms<\/p>\n\n\n\n

there is that thing about April showers though,
I would tell him, and look
they prove to make the early spring garden
quite sparkly with raindrops<\/p>\n\n\n\n

my nosing companion on this walk, Pupperoo
finds the newly nourished, although familiar
ground
full
of new things to smell
as well, our other travelling partner
the little wren is quite excited
for a chat
and follows us almost step for
step<\/p>\n\n\n\n

really not any of the birds
seem at all bothered in the least
by the greying skies
as each joyfully add to the
chorus of the garden<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but the flowers, do feel themselves
pummeled just a little
and cautious
as each has closed its petals
against
annihilation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

as I walk,
I\u2019m thinking today of
really concerning news about a dear, dear heart
that struck our day
and as is often the case, this
sacred spot
is my place for channeling
peace<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m thinking of my dear friend, and our thoughts of
tea in the garden together
though we are miles apart, this
is how we do it
(and kind of suits me)
I do my best to surround her in loving kindness
and gentle things
as this may be what she
is needing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and I vow to hold her here
in my heart
for safe keeping
as she is cherished<\/p>\n\n\n\n

while I know, politics may be the \u2018news\u2019 of the day
and I can feel myself sounding like a broken record here,
but
could we just think to
put our minds, our hearts and our
self-labeled expertise
on things less one sided
or the other<\/p>\n\n\n\n

instead of
proving ourselves right
what if
we prove ourselves
loving
we show ourselves as
kind

and we offer up
gentleness and goodness

and truly spend our energies
caring about how
each other
may be doing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

because I just don\u2019t know
another way <\/p>\n\n\n\n

of tending to the garden \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
