Last Sunday night
beginning of the week, just
as I am falling asleep, puppy snuggled in
by my side
I feel someone come to stand
beside the bed\u2026 touch my back
a very
real
presence

but no one there<\/p>\n\n\n\n

on Tuesday, while I am at work
my husband finds upstairs
the alarm going off, on an old clock radio
his side of the bed
an alarm that he has never set,
certainly has not turned on
(of course these days we use our phones for such things,
or new puppies\u2026\u00a0 as it were)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and this to say, how very much I love our old house
well over a hundred years it has stood
and now almost thirty
it has held
us
and every night, as I lay down
I say thank you<\/p>\n\n\n\n

there was a house I used to pass by
in the town where I lived
growing up
it was large, and had a medium to tall
fence around
blinds, on all the windows
I think, mostly drawn
and to my recollection, different colours
the garden around the house
inside the fence
always appeared quite
overgrown
never sure, if anyone lived there<\/p>\n\n\n\n

of course, as the reader might know
I absolutely loved it
and thought to myself, even then
that, that
is where I
want
to
be\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

sort of remember now,
that it\u2019s only drawback was
that it sat, to one side
on a rather busy road
I quickly forgave it thus, figuring it had probably
been there
first<\/p>\n\n\n\n

there is that word
much bandied about these days
manifest<\/p>\n\n\n\n

suppose I have somehow
then,
manifested my
safe haven<\/p>\n\n\n\n

today in the garden, I am listening to
the Carolina Wren, a constant
chatting with a small chickadee
I am watching the blue jays, gratefully collecting
peanuts
and a grackle too
chipmunks sneaking in
from all directions
the larger nuthatch with a seed
a robin with a worm
cardinals
and doves
sparrows, of course
squirrels<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the swish\u2026
of the ferns
a branch of the crabapple
that scrapes on the eves<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the great multitude of tadpoles in the ponds
is astonishing (every year)
small tents of caterpillars
have begun to appear
in the spindle
and the many different bees
on the bridal wreath spirea
always a marvel
the lovely stripes of a bee-like hoverfly
and a beetle exploring the roof of a birdhouse

I am doing a bit of trimming, but not much
mostly, as usual
I am looking, listening
and admiring the great, great magnificence
of nature
when we have simply
allowed her
to
roam<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and I am saying to my garden
(as I do)
I just really
love it
here<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and to you
if you\u2019re thinking of manifesting
anything,

make sure you include things like
love
peace
and
freedom<\/p>\n\n\n\n

presence
awareness and
gratitude <\/p>\n\n\n\n

go on then,
and for heaven\u2019s sake

do
make it something good \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
