Today,
our anniversary
33 years, my love and I
as Mr. and Mrs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
what I was thinking about this morning,
those many years ago
we were married on a Saturday
went away for a few days
and my husband was back to work
by Tuesday
life is not linear
or fair
nor is it entirely clear or
at times
kind<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a career you have given thirty-four years
of your life, as well
oftentimes, your family\u2019s
can be summarily dismissed
in the blink of an eye<\/p>\n\n\n\n
terms like
restructured
and
without cause<\/p>\n\n\n\n
knocks us
for a
loop<\/p>\n\n\n\n
one thing I will tell you,
I am
fiercely protective
of my husband
and a heart
that carries mine<\/p>\n\n\n\n
yesterday morning
a mild panic attack for me
daily pronouncements of hatred and vitriol
racism and bigotry, ignorance
repeated calls for increased violence
begets
more
violence<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and once again\u2026\u00a0 the great divide
widens
as true colours come
to the forefront
in people who knowingly
support
this kind of thing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the tenuousness of
being here
in a world increasingly
lacking
in love and goodness knows,
kindness<\/p>\n\n\n\n
for a time,
I often wondered how it was
in Hitler\u2019s reign
that neighbour could so readily and
so coldly
turn
on neighbour<\/p>\n\n\n\n
now,
we just watch it unfold
on very small
screens
and believe ourselves removed<\/p>\n\n\n\n
it\u2019s not always easy
to loudly celebrate
love
sometimes,
it has to sit
just
quietly<\/p>\n\n\n\n
for awhile<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to be
heard \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
