Days have felt like
Alice
tumbling down into the darkness
of
the rabbit hole
unable to grab hold of much
or make sense
of a world
gone<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to
non-
sense<\/p>\n\n\n\n

still reeling I guess, from
the suddenness of my husband\u2019s job
being eliminated
thirty-four years,
to
dust
uncaring in what you have dealt<\/p>\n\n\n\n

seems the way of the world\u2026
giant egos pushing to
rule
and those
who will follow
screens still filled
with yet one more horrible loud-mouth
who will tell you, empathy doesn\u2019t matter
that it
is
made up, and
weak<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but let me tell you
caring for someone, caring about
someone
and carrying the hurt
of someone
else
is a very real thing
and for me, it\u2019s a very<\/p>\n\n\n\n

sacred thing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the challenge these days
is
coming back to oneself
as Jack Kornfield instructs,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let the loving kindness of your heart
hold all joys and sorrows<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

the mindfulness in this,
in holding
all
is not so tightly
that either is unable
to
flow

again, I begin
May you be safe and at ease\u2026

this morning it\u2019s
sunlight through the slats
of an old fence
it\u2019s bright glimpses of the softest
blue
through leaves on the crab apple<\/p>\n\n\n\n

this morning it\u2019s a
quiet slow start and
just the way,
I
like
them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

it\u2019s gazing up at the sky
at cotton puffs of cloud
watching golden needles from the pine
sail down
highlighting surfaces below<\/p>\n\n\n\n

at the pond, it\u2019s searching for the frog
who is not always initially
visible
and finally spotting him
perfectly camouflaged among the plants
finding comfort and
joy
yet knowing the probable impermanence
of this
as he is under no obligation
to stay<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in the garden, it\u2019s watching the waning of the flowers
in their fullness
letting things go and knowing
they
must<\/p>\n\n\n\n

it\u2019s hearing of the loss of a dear, dear man
whose gentle nature and heart
most full
of kindness
rests tenderly
in
my thoughts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and it\u2019s keeping to the softness
of my own
dear heart
caring entirely, just how
you
are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

no matter who
you are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and reminding myself
in the wonder
of these days <\/p>\n\n\n\n

not
to drink
the
