Gazing out the window this morning
I watch a robin in the rain
poking holes in wet earth
searching for
worms<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am reading about cemeteries
which happen to be
something
that
I
love<\/p>\n\n\n\n
often you know, while reading, while
watching, while
learning
I will think to myself
This!
this is what I should be doing and
wouldn’t this
be the most wonderful profession<\/p>\n\n\n\n
had I known<\/p>\n\n\n\n
early in the week, I watched a documentary
of a man who
researched and developed a drug
to prevent the damage done by strokes
or maybe it was to prevent strokes altogether
anyway,
fascinated I say to my son
as he walks in the room
Wouldn’t it be cool, to be a Neuroscientist!?!
discovering and developing something
that saves lives
I mean, how cool is that!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
meanwhile, on most days
I am
not even sure of my own neurological capacities<\/p>\n\n\n\n
… and that science-y bit
probably a bit of a challenge<\/p>\n\n\n\n
still, a girl can dream, can’t she<\/p>\n\n\n\n
this morning, back to my book
by the curator of a world famous Parisian cemetery
where he lives on the grounds with his family
and the history, the life, the wildlife
the presence, the lore
appearances, and
upkeep
our changing views on how things \u2018should\u2019 be<\/p>\n\n\n\n
of course this all ties in so much
to my thoughts on
the garden
our conditioning and preferences
to pristine rules of
aesthetics
opposed as it often is to
nature
as well as our thoughts on death or our
avoidance thereof
as the natural course of<\/p>\n\n\n\n
life<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and I am always fascinated by just how
and when
we as societies decide
it is ours to overtake nature
to control and most often destroy
natural spaces, habitats and natural rhythms
to force all and every kind of native species
to conform to our
crisp lines and well-poisoned rules of
beautifying
things<\/p>\n\n\n\n
we will marvel as a leaf falls
but never, ever
should it
land<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as I sit here, the teeny, tiniest being
appears
on the pillow beside me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and I am awed
the world is full of the most amazing
and wonderfully fascinating
human beings as well as all
of the natural world
around us<\/p>\n\n\n\n
there really is never
any excuse
to
be<\/p>\n\n\n\n
bored \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
