{"id":5409,"date":"2026-05-29T16:05:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T20:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=5409"},"modified":"2026-05-29T16:05:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T20:05:24","slug":"do-watch-your-step","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamara.tedzplace.ca\/?p=5409","title":{"rendered":"do watch your step&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Another gorgeous day begins<br>its<br>unfolding<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of course it will start with a quiet read<br>where I am tucking in to my<br>summer read of Middlemarch by George Eliot<br>outside it appears to be<br>shaping up as a bright<br>and beauty-filled day<br>seeing the bird feeders have been<br>gladly emptied<br>after the dogs and I have wandered about a little<br>the first task,<br>is<br>at hand<br><br>it is rather glorious to hear birdsong in the mornings<br>and all day suits me fine, as well<br><br>the first stop always is the pond<br>I say good mornings to the fish, and look<br>for the frog<br>check to see if any other visitors might possibly have<br>wandered in overnight (ever hopeful)<br>as our froggy has been calling<br>and seems to chime in each time<br>the dogs set in to<br>barking<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I see a few phlox are beginning to flower<br>and I watch the bees<br>marvel at how big the clover leaves are getting<br>and how many wild things are quite quickly<br>filling up the vegetable patch<br>other than<br>vegetables (ha, ha!)<br>currants seem quite prolific this year<br>still at the lime-ish green stage<br>great patches of brown where gardens used to flourish<br>the dogs have worn down<br>by raucous play<br>young fluffy sparrows are everywhere<br>wee chipmunks, not yet quite cautious<br>enough<br>torment the pups<br>venturing in for stray peanuts<br><br>at the weekend, our new neighbour<br>to one side<br>thinking he was being thoughtful and<br>kind<br>decided to mow down our front boulevard<br>before lovely husband could<br>let him know<br>that over-grown was by intention<br>as our Wildlife Habitat Certified and Acts of Restorative<br>Kindness to the Earth signs<br>might indicate<br>we are fully committed to growing less lawn<br>as he is a really nice young man, he felt awful<br>but we assured him, no harm was done<br>and we did appreciate <br>his kind thought<br><br>also last weekend, lovely husband sent me a<br>real estate listing<br>it was for a little house, that once had been<br>our first<br>little house<br>as<br>just married\u2019s<br><br>as much had changed in the over thirty years<br>since it had been ours<br>we poured over pictures<br>remembering what<br>had been<br>where<br>most of its charm and original character<br>stripped away<br>updated for modern living, I suppose<br>selling now, for seven or eight times<br>what we had paid<br>or even sold<br>for<br>still served as very fond memories<br>it really was<br>a dear little house<br>to<br>begin in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>hard to believe it is now almost<br>June<br><br>I have a special little project<br>I\u2019ve been slowly cooking up<br>and all fingers crossed<br>I will have something to tell<br>soon<br><br>I hope you are well<br>and finding yourself somehow<br>muddling through,<br><br>as<br>am<br>I<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>in light and in love<br><br>I look forward again<br>to meeting you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>right<br>here.<br><br><em>and do keep an eye out&#8230;
