Ode to and inspired by
a friend
and thoughts on just how
to stop
time<\/p>\n\n\n\n
two days ago, I wrote of having a lively chat
with a young robin
and my gosh, such a joy
this morning my son lets me know
there is a dead bird
in the garden,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a
robin<\/p>\n\n\n\n
of course there is no real way for me to know
if this is my fellow
but it is a young one
and regardless of knowing
or not
it is heartbreaking just the same<\/p>\n\n\n\n
out to remove it from a bed
in the violets
(prevent the dogs from bothering it first)
repeatedly I say, how very sorry I am
I am so sorry…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
earlier in the week, we found two chipmunks
had drowned
in a pail of water
and
this morning, we\u2019ve lost another fish<\/p>\n\n\n\n
small potatoes one might say
but sometimes life
is this<\/p>\n\n\n\n
so much to say for being in the
here and
now
to look and to
notice<\/p>\n\n\n\n
one morning this week began early
with a rainbow
which came as it did…
before
the
rain
and then showed as double<\/p>\n\n\n\n
yesterday in the garden I stood and watched
a small bit of seeded fluff
sail across the sky, and I wondered just how
it got so high up
yet kept
travelling so<\/p>\n\n\n\n
also this week I watched a documentary
on the pushing through of pipelines
on indigenous lands
and the forcible pushing out
of sacred spaces and
people
for money<\/p>\n\n\n\n
for money<\/p>\n\n\n\n
this week, a dear lady
who has been sharing the story
of her mother who is deaf
and in the decline of life due in part
to dementia
said her goodbyes in a beautifully
peace-filled end
to
their
story<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as well, this week I looked admiringly
at pictures from some dear hearts
having the time of their lives
travelling Italy and Greece
together
savouring the historical, architectural and
archaeological wonders
I know so well
grateful in the sharing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
(while also pinning a tiny gold star on my chest
for walking myself downtown
to pick up
some
vegetables)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
time is all relative, I suppose
isn\u2019t that something someone said<\/p>\n\n\n\n
might we always keep ourselves open
to the moments
that
matter<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and always
to allowing love<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to enter
here \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
