This morning as I am reading,
during a pause in the symphony
that plays
in the background
I hear a faint tapping by the window
when I sit up further to look out
I see two beautiful little downy woodpeckers
this years brood, they\u2019re just babies
so cute, as they briefly squabble over the last bits of
suet
I watch them for some time, until I can feel
I am straining my neck
about to sit back and return to my book
I spot a small toad making his way up
the path
and this morning I can say,
joy
abounds<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I come to this, from the lovely Kyo Maclear

and I think to myself
yes… to this<\/p>\n\n\n\n
release the tension
on hold
in my body
wiggle fingers that ache<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I notice a large tree is missing from a lawn
round the corner
and I wonder if the man who lives here
will be missing his shade
I make an effort to smile at the people I pass in the street
see just how many
smile back
I think about fourteen lovely faces today
and one dog<\/p>\n\n\n\n
tiny white flowers, and a small bit of
silver chain
I think about my Dad, and how he too had a thing
for finding small
treasure
and slipping it into his pocket<\/p>\n\n\n\n
this keeping one\u2019s eyes open
for smaller things<\/p>\n\n\n\n
three short sunflowers there to greet me
I stop to admire them and have a quick word
You don\u2019t have to be tall and fantastically bright
to get noticed, you know
I tell them
I think you are simply wonderful
just the way
you
are \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
