This morning a small lively bunny
hops about in the garden
one of this year\u2019s babies
a little bigger than last spotted
enjoying, I think
the cooler quiet of the
morning<\/p>\n\n\n\n

while I am reading, and
as often happens
something makes me look up and
out
to see a northern flicker
rummaging under the forsythia<\/p>\n\n\n\n

out to fill the feeders, I stop at the pond
say good morning to the fish
and the frog

last weekend, and for several days
early in the week
I wondered if the frog was still here
we hadn\u2019t heard him croak
and he hadn\u2019t responded when I said
good morning
most unlike him, he is very polite<\/p>\n\n\n\n

where would he go?<\/em>, my husband said to me
well, he is always free to go<\/em>, I said
I just was hoping that no one had
got him, predatory-wise

Wednesday morning, a little forlornly
I greeted the fish, casually mentioning how much
I missed our green fellow
then looked down
and just beside me, to my right
there he was
quite happily lapping up unbridled affection
I guess, he\u2019d just been a little quieter of late
and I suppose
I can respect
that<\/p>\n\n\n\n

one night this week, I woke myself from a terrible dream
in which I was unable to breathe
by the time I had shaken myself awake
clearly realizing, I could in fact breathe just fine
my body not trusting my insistent
sensibilities
refused to release
panic-mode

engaging all gentle thought<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I consciously breathed deeply
in then out
slowly
tried surrendering myself again
to sleep<\/p>\n\n\n\n

another bright soul, struggling with addictions
lost to this world
breaks a heart
in to many
many
pieces<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I carried an unsettled tension in my body
for several days
(… i don\u2019t know how to do otherwise)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

on Wednesday,
I baked
lemon and blueberry cookies
to take in to work
as carrying sweet things, and offering such
feels like<\/p>\n\n\n\n

kindness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in a world sometimes much too busy
to
notice or
care<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(my gracious friends appreciate it, and I
them)

on Thursday, my daughter said a sad
goodbye
to her little guinea pig

and Friday, I finish a fantastic book
go out to pick up my veg
take a peak in and restock my
little library

and I sit for a time
in the sunshine of my garden

listening to the birds

never losing sight
of the
grounding pleasures of
green

and the subtle croaking
of a
small
frog \u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n
