it feels like it’s been a long week
\nI’ve talked too much
\ntoo many thoughts
\nswirl in my head
\ntrying to contribute
\nto calm<\/p>\n
and so …<\/p>\n
today I think I’ll sit
\nand paint myself
\na picture<\/p>\n
of course, I am not a painter ..
\nbut these are the words
\nthat float through me
\nas I take my coffee
\noutside
\nto sit<\/p>\n
just
\nto sit
\nto look
\nto listen<\/p>\n
to
\nbreathe<\/p>\n
after the rain
\neverything is starting look very lush
\nand full
\nand the birds
\nbring the garden
\nto life
\nthe almost silent air
\nsashays it’s way
\nthrough every leaf
\nand playfully
\ndances with my hair
\nan airplane overhead
\nbelly of white
\nrumbles a tune across the sky
\nthen slowly fades
\nthat all familiar little peep
\nlet’s me know that the woodpecker
\nhas arrived
\na soft little toodle
\nsays there’s Mr Blue
\nand
\nabove the branches of the spruce
\nI can see garden fairies
\nattempting to land
\nin scarlet dresses and stockings to match
\nleast, I think they are fairies
\ncould be wasps or beetles
\nI suppose…
\nwith very long legs<\/p>\n
the mock orange is flowering
\nsuch a glorious scent
\neach time I step out now
\nher perfume will
\nenchant me
\nand I will repeatedly say to my husband
\n“Mmmmmm
\ncan you smell that !?!”<\/p>\n
at the edge of the cabin
\nI can see on the ceiling
\nsparkles shimmering and dancing
\nlike reflections from
\na disco ball
\ninviting me of course
\nto the pond
\nwhere the morning sun
\nhas arrived
\nilluminating life
\ntadpoles are everywhere
\nsome now sprouting legs!
\nmotoring around, they don’t much like
\nto sit still
\npushing sticks and leaves
\nas they go
\nlooking down, I spot
\nthe red and white fish
\njust sitting , patiently
\nwatching me
\nmy Mr. Limpet, he is
\nOh, Hello, I say to him
\nwould you like me to get you some food?
\nhe moves his mouth
\nin polite response
\nacross the way
\na flashing of silver strings
\nthe spiders spin
\nglisten in the sunlight
\nlike the strings of a celestial harp<\/p>\n
chick-a-dee dee-dee-dee
\nI can hear
\nand the tapping of Mrs. Cardinal
\nat the window
\nI suppose the feeder needs
\nreplenishing
\nI hear that little peep again
\nand back is Gord
\nthe downy-woodpecker
\nand with him is Robert
\nhis Mrs.
\nthey have quickly become
\nmy favourite visitors
\nthe dearest little finch
\nflits around
\neager to speak to me
\nof everything she knows
\na sort of large reddish brown spider
\nruns along the length of my
\nleg
\nand although I appreciate the visit
\nI convince him, that he would look much better
\non the ground<\/p>\n
a lovely little brown toad
\nplumps his way\u00a0to resting
\njust beside my chair
\nI greet him cordially
\nwith a large smile
\nand we sit
\njust quietly
\nadmiring
\nthen off he goes
\nthrough speckles of sunlight
\ndown the garden path<\/p>\n
the breeze blows in again
\nbringing with it savoury smells
\nmy son is in the kitchen
\ncooking lunch
\nand I am reminded that I
\nhave not eaten today<\/p>\n
but I am not yet ready
\nto leave this spot
\nthe luxury of this
\nsit<\/p>\n
the sun is warm
\nand the sky
\nis blue<\/p>\n
and I am at ease
\nin the world<\/p>\n
